Hey, gang. On my '01 non-ABS ST1100, the brake pedal sits too high for my foot to easily swing onto it. With my long legs, my toes point downward a bit, and I have to lift my heel off the peg a bit to get my toe onto the pedal.

My '96 Nighthawk 750 has a bolt and locknut that adjusts the pedal height, after which I can adjust the linkage and brake-light switch to suit the new position. I see nothing in my manuals about an adjustment for the ST1100.

"Help me, Obi-wan; you're my only hope!"

Larry,
Do you have lowering brackets on your pegs?
I wish, but no. (If I did, I'd understand the pedal-to-peg relationship being affected.) Why do you ask?

My long legs place my knees forward, which angles my lower legs rearward and my toes downward.

Thanks for the info. I had lowering pegs for a time and I looked into the adjustment necessary to lower the brake pedal as low as needed for the height of the peg with the lowering brackets installed. It requires more work if the lowering pegs come into play.

The adjustment mechanism is on the back side of the right metal side cover the rear peg is attached to.

The adjustment rod and clevis can be seen here: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/honda/motorcycle/1997/st1100-a/rr-brake-master-cyl

Never knew that. I'll have to look into adjusting mine. Thanks.

I had the same problem, adjusted the pedal down, all better. You will also have to to adjust the brake light actuator to engage when you 'hit the brakes'. It gives you the chance to clean it all up while you're in there.

Thank you all!

What, if any bike parts have to be removed to reach the adjustments? And what tools are needed?

I can't say truthfully, I had the whole rear end off cleaning, greasing and painting. I believe if you can contort a bit it's all reachable underneath but i'm not sure. I had the whole aluminum side cover off, the entire rear brake assembly is mounted on the backside.

IIRC, pulling the fuel tank (easy, BTDT x too many) should give you the access to adjust the brake lever position. +1 on the brake light switch.
