Bridgestone BT-021 opinions?

I am running Conti Road Attack and am very pleased. However, I will be lucky to get 5,000 miles on the rear. The Bridgestone BT-021 costs less and likely has better mileage.

Any opinions on the handling of the rear BT-021?
 
I have the OEM 021, and the wear bars popped up at 6800 miles. Supposedly, I've read, they're good for another couple thousand, but I'm getting used to the bike enough now that I find the backend sliding out, probably the wear. Bought some Avons, Raven's a speed demon and he likes them. May squeeze the last miles out before putting them on. I'm on the auSTerity plan.

The 021 isn't available in a Honda OEM version like the 020F, so it isn't designed to take the extra weight and abuse.

I'm just finishing up my third set of 020Fs and will very likely replace it with another. I get at least 10K per set out of them.

The 021 on the back of my 1100 is not going to go any where near the milage I got from the 020 that's for sure. As far as handling I like it a lot not had a step out yet!

I tried the 21's after getting 12K on the original 20's...

Got much less mileage on the 21's and did not like the
noise the 21's made...now on 2nd set of 20's and happy
although I don't expect to get 12K again as riding has changed a bit....
 
Went to the Rear BT021 after the OEM 020 picked up a nail..... Turns out my rear 021 liked to eat nails also....:eek:4:

I'm running Roadsmart's now....jury is still out. Working on a balance issue on the front right now...

Like others have said.....I've gotten more miles out of the 020 than the 021.

Personally I really like the handling of the 020 versus the 021.

Recently seeing AzDesertrider's brand new rear Metzeler waiting to be put on his 2003 ST, I may want to try that one next.

Kind of a toss up on the 020's vs. the 021's... I can carve with either... and get about the same mileage out of both varieties.... I think I would like to try the RoadSmarts next time (or maybe metzlers).... Who knows.... :confused:

I was under the impression the 021 replaced the 020, so I'm happy to hear the 020 is the way to go. I plan to keep my Conti RA front tire until it wears out.

Rides planned this year on my new 020s:
NW Washington, including Flowery Tail Drive, 1,200 mile
NW Oregon, to include the John Day area E. of Baker City 1,200 mile
The Oregon Coast around Florence: 1,000 miles
7 days; Olympia to Lake Isabella via Yosemite 2,500 miles?

Thanks for the compliment on the Mark Twain quote. I don't remember how I came across it, but its message seems to be my raison d'etre for owning an ST. The other reason might be my last name: AuSTer.

I only use the 021 or 020 on the front (40psi) now. I prefer the Shinko rear (42psi) all around.

I should add I use four sets of tires a year and the Shinko is less than $100.

Ive had 021s just once, and don't like them. They are noisy compared to the 020s, wear faster and square off very quickly. Nice to ride - if you ignore the noise - for the first 1000 miles or so. But I wont buy another set. One of the tyres is not dual compoundm the other is. Cant remember which has the dual compound and which doesn't.
 
My 021s will last a good while, if you don't mind riding on square tires. Back to the 020s as soon as the weather breaks.

I'm glad to hear about your favorable impression of the 020's. I mounted a pair of them on my bike this past weekend. I only have about 65 miles on them so far, and so far, I like them alot.

I picked my 020's up for $242 for the set, spent $50 on mounting, is that ball park for what you have found them?

I bought my last set at the now-gone Southwest Moto Tires, and I think they were $100 and $120. Tire prices have gone up in the interim, so maybe $242's not bad.
