Broke my Glove box Lock!

hman

So I ignored the fact that the dust cover/sliding door on the lock seemed to be a bit bent and I continued using it. What I didn't notice was that one day the door itself broke off and fell inside. I'm now unable to use my key in the lock! I was able to fish out the spring but not the door.

Has anyone else made this bonehead maneuver? I'm going to try and remove the glove this weekend to see if I can get the last piece out. :nuts1:

Nope just you.:D:crackup
Seriously hope you can fish it out with maybe some dental picks or something.

I'm guessing the lock didn't break with the door to the fairing pocket open :(

I've never had that problem myself, I'd check with a locksmith.

I just had warranty replace mine. But the part isn't about $15 and I think it is held on by a clip.

I just had this same issue. I tried to drill out the lock but then the battery on my drill died (currently charging). I'm hoping I can get the lock cylinder out without damaging any plastic.

No need to drill out the lock.
Lift the gas tank push the lock plunger.
Open the glove box door.
Remove the spring clip and take the lock assy out.

I'm following your thread also has I need to replace my lock because of the dust door.

There's a few concurrent threads on this.
One mentioned the short key blank lock knob farkle to cover the hole.
Note the lock pocket doesn't drain into the fairing pocket so your stuff won't get wet without the sliding door.
In fact you can pull the lock and just use the weight of your ez pass to hold it closed. DAMHIKT
