Buy a higher handlebar for ST1100

After riding my ST1100 for a while, I'm considering changing to a slightly higher handlebar to keep the ignition key and handlebar cover intact as before without any modification. If anyone has replaced the handlebars without changing the hoses and cables, I'd like to hear which handlebars you bought.

You can do the 'flip clip' mod which will raise the bars up and back about 1 inch - and I kept the cover on all of mine.
There are a set of BMW bars that work (K75?) but you have to mod the cover.

Thinking of replacing the handlebars, I'm thinking of comparing an original one with handlebars available on the market that can provide the desired sitting position. If I find something that can give the desired sitting position, I will get back to you with what kind of handlebars I use

FWIW, Some folks carve on the cover to get it to fit.

Do I understand you correctly, do the Police ST1100 OEM handlebar risers come in Honda's part number? If so, how much higher are these built vs standard?

The parts have different number markings and different part numbers vs my standard ST1100.

About 25mm...

The P-spec has the 'old style', (wider) handlebar and the plastic shroud with the recess in the center...
In this design the plastic is mounted to the handlebar, thus raising it isn't an issue, the plastic still fits & attaches...
(I've fitted the P-spec parts to my '94 ST1100 without any issues...)

post '96 ST's have a different handlebar with the 'large/tall' plastic shroud (with the flat top), attached to the upper triple clamp with two cross-head M5 screws...
hence when you raise the handlebar, the plastic cannot be directly attached anymore... (you'd need to make some tabs...)

Be advised that you'll lose the connection to the steering a bit by such...
I was just out riding my '94 with those +25mm and it feels a little detached compared to the '00 with full OEM setup...

Not necessarily. Tall bars do provide for a lot of leverage, and the bars were a bit wobbly. A large washer under each bolt head beneath the upper triple clamp makes them rock solid with no flex.

I'm 6'3" and long legged. In the first pic, you can see how thick the RDL seat is, which suits my legs. Only then did I add the taller risers beneath the Helibars to suit my new shoulder placement.

You don't know where your shoulders will comfortably be located until you get your butt in the right place. Only then can you determine the best location to place your hands for back comfort.
