Helmets Caberg trip???

Aidan13

Can anyone tell me what this helmet is like? What the noise levels are like? I'm liking it because it was one of the few flip face helmts to get 5 stars on the Sharp safety testing. Any advice on this helmet is appriciated.

I have had mine for about 3 or 4 yrs. I really like it. Can't mention about noise as I wear ear plugs... no noise. Accept the chatter in my head but that's another story. Internal visor works great. Vents work good only when moving fast and as of late it is starting to leak. Little vasoline on the gasket should take care of that. Can't get parts for the helmet in the states now. I now have a Nolan 103 and it's just as good or better.

I too wear ear plugs so I can't say if it is good or bad. If your not wearing plugs, you SHOULD. That being said, the Caberg is known to have the chin bar very close to the chin, it doesn't bother me, but makes it a tight fit when trying to slip in a camel back tube for a drink of water.

I like the chin strap mechanism and HATE the one on the Nolan's. It has to do with the size and location of the buckle. On the Nonlan it cuts into my Adam's Apple too much and I had to chuck the helmet, not so with the Caberg. The downside with the Caberg is that it does NOT (at least the older ones) come with the inner visor to cut down on fog build up, I miss that from the Nolan.

Earplugs are almost a must with any helmet. I can say that this helmet has been personally crash tested and it worked great. I have since bought 2 more. great helmet.

I wear a Caberg Justissimo. Like all of the other flip-up helmets, I find the wind noise really bad. I've warn a Nolan 101 and a 102. My full-face Shoei RF800 was much quieter.

I like the fit of the Caberg better than the Nolan and Caberg had the internal sun shade visor before Nolan did.

I love my Caberg but anything longer than a trip to the corner store, I am wearing hearing protection.

I love my Caberg. It is reasonably quiet especially with the chin air dam in place. I can get shields etc. from the UK in about a week. It is light which makes it comfortable. I had a KBC FFR modular before and I like the Caberg much better. I have added a BTS200 Motocom Bluetooth headset to the helmet and it fit fine. The ventilation could be better in hot weather but I find that I rarely close the front shield anyway when I am riding I just use the drop down visor by itself when riding behind a windshield. It is nice not having to worry about sunglasses anymore. Go to Web Bike World and read the report on the Caberg Trip. I think the article will answer most of your questions.

A good fitting helmet, just don't shut the chin bar........... With the mechanism in there, there just isn't the room for my chin.
And I haven't got a big one.................

Bought myself a Shuberth Concept. Nice.
C3 had a bit more chin room though, a bit to rich form me.

Always worried by the easy way the sides compress together without the chin guard down...seeems a little weak. The Caberg is not tested with the chin guard up the Shark Evolution is. The Shark is in my book a far better helmet all round. Oh did I mention I like my Shark Evolution...a lot. Good amount of room between chin and guard too. I think I must have a big one:confused:;)

I've had the Caberg Trip for about a year now. I only wear it when I ride rallies or group events, so all told, I've only got about 2,000 miles under it.

The price is hard to beat. For the money, I feel it was more "solid" than the SyMax, which was the other flip-up I was considering at the time. The construction of the helmet is solid, although the cheek sides do have a lot of flexibility in them when the face is up.

It was easy-cheesy to get comms into it.

I don't believe the helmet is any noisier than any other helmet I've owned, but I've always got ear plugs in.

Ventilation is terrible. Not good at all. The only way to get a breeze in there is to flip up the visor a bit.

The helmet has style. Lots of it. I've never had so many looks as when I wear that thing. It just looks like I should be climbing into a TIE fighter. Very awesome.

All in all, it's a great value, and a really good helmet. I would highly recommend it under that consideration.:yes:

Nothing's perfect, though: I find that the helmet fits really tight around my cheeks. Really tight. It wears my jaw muscles out some days. Also, the neck strap has this strange habit of falling down to my adam's apple and putting uncomfortable pressure on me when I look down at my map or GPS. (Yes, I've tried to loosen it AND tighten it). Obviously, both of these factor have a lot to do with the shape of my head.

Also, you need tools to remove the visor. Obviously, with the flip-down sun shield it's not that big a deal, but if you're the type that likes shaded visors, you'll need a tool of some sort to remove the stock outer visor for cleaning or swapping.

All in all, I like it more than the Nolan I used to own, and find that it's a fantastic helmet. At the price they sell it at... it's almost disposable.

Bought mine about 3000 miles ago and loving it ever since. It's pretty quite for a flip up, but like most have said here, I only ride without earplugs on short, 5/10 minute trips. Anything longer and the plugs are going in.

The price point is great, the safety rating is great and it looks great.

My only two gripes are 1) it's not sold here so getting parts and replacements will take a while and 2) after long rides I find the the top front digs into my upper forehead a bit. That's easily remedied by moving the helmet up or down slightly on my head, but I do notice it after about an hour.

+1 on the ease of getting comm units into the helmet. My Autocom mike, ear speakers and lead wire went in easy and stay put.

I do not have any problem with the chin guard being too close.

Just to update you on this. I went ahead and bought a Caberg Trip. I paid 95euro for it new which is a bargain. My autocom system fitted perfect into it in less thatn 2 mins. It's really comfortable, fairly quiet but I do wear ear plugs. And this 5 star rating is great peace of mind. To sum up I'm delighted with it.

Good to hear that you enjoy it.

I'm always hesitant to give reviews on equipment or motorcycles. Something that works for me, may be unacceptable for someone else.

Either way, I still like the Trip. I hope yours works well for you.

Likes???

# 1 ~~~ Price I paid...

# 2 ~~~ Styling and Graphics...

# 3 ~~~ Shield stays in place and does not move when dirty air hits it...

# 4 ~~~ Warmer for winter riding... Like wearing ear muffs as the helmet lays against the ears...

# 5 ~~~ Comes with a quick tatch latch already installed...

# 6 ~~~ System to close the built in sun shield is the BESTEST,,, E V A R!!! Way better than the wacky HJC system...

Dislikes???

# 1 ~~~ NOISY!!! Ok,,, do an experiment... Yes,,, Do as I say...:D

Talk out loud and have your hands "Cupped" over your ears... Everything sounds normal... This is like 79.8% of helmets around the ears is a molded in pocket that your ears stay in... Helmet is not "Squished" against your ears... My HJC Symax II is like this...

Now,,, keep talking (((Easy for Coop))) and place your hands flat against your ears... It is about 101.3% LOUDER than having your hands cupped over your ears!!! Repeat the experiment a few times till your cranium catches up and you say SHAZZAM!!! (((For Coop this will be around 11 times)))

# 1 A ~~~ With the Caberg??? I need ear Plugs... With the HJC I do not... I run with my Bike shield so to where I am looking over it about 2.2 or 3.1 inches and my Face shield in the full open position...

# 2 ~~~ Warmer for summer riding... Being this helmet has built in Ear Muffs over your ear,,, it hold in the heat more... Also,,, the venting system sucks but,,, most helmet at least sort of suck that protect and fit...

# 3 ~~~ Shield does not remove easy... Yeah Yeah,,, go ahead and tell me you don't take your shield off... :p: Cleaning the Caberg is a true pain... The HJC in 2.2 seconds (((17.4 for Coop))) you can pop the shield out and clean it till can be used on the Space Telescope it is so clean!!!

# 4 ~~~ Ok,,, hard to prove but,,, The Caberg "Wobbles" more riding!!! I have no idea but,,, it does!!! It might just be behind a shield that it does this... But,,, I rode with 3 shields and it did it bad behind all shields except,,, the Cal Sci Shield... (((Have I ever Mentioned that I like the Cal Sci as the Quietest Shield???))) :duck::rolleyes:

I own a Caberg and ride with it in the Fall/Winter months... It is warmer,,, and with no bugs,,, cleaning is not that big of a deal living in Illinois...

Going far from home 365 days a year??? I pull out the HJC Symax II... ;)
