EDIT.
Meet up at Tim Horton's 9:00 am in Baddeck. Sunday July 17th. If we hustle we can do the full loop, but I'm partial to the trail up to Cape North and head back. At Neils Harbour we can take the New Haven Road through White Rock to South Harbour, Return to English Town and then take the 105 to Sydney to catch the ferry.

If we did the loop on Highway 30 back to Baddeck and then back on the 105 from there.

Sounds like a plan to me - I'll be there if I can get across the border!
We could start earlier and ride longer ...

If I can get away from the Norton rally in good time I'll join in. Assuming no Border and Covid issues

Current border status..... lots of lobbying going on to drop the Antigen (Rapid Test) requirement..... hopefully soon, but that wouldn't be a big deal to me...

Did the trail 2019 stayed at the corner stone motel on the west side not to far from the beginning of the trail, its a small place but clean ,the people are great and will help you anyway they can , they have a trailer there if you break down they will come and get you ,not sure if they opened up a restaurant it was in there plan , the six of us that stayed there all loved it.

Yes indeed, 10AM! We are just down the street from you Phil, at the Ceilidh Lodge.
Maybe we can do supper on the 16th if that works for you - and Robert can also join us if he is able.
If the restaurant is still open I went to last time I was there, they are really good.

I am also sure it will be lifted soon, but surprisingly it is not easy to get an official rapid test in the largest town over the border to Vancouver, Bellingham with a population of 80,000 !

I just did a google maps directions from the campground toTim’s is 5 minutes. We could try and leave at 9:00 AM, which might give us a chance to go up to Capstick. It’s a gravel road part of the way, but a very nice view.
We have a few weeks to decide on this. ;)

Cherie and I are on the noon ferry on the 17th so won’t be able to join you but I agree Meatcove is worth a visit, nice little snack stop there with a patio and view.

Cherie and I really enjoyed a couple of meals at this busy diner on the Cabot Trail https://www.facebook.com/DancingGoatCafe

You da the man - I'm just following ...

The more I think about this, and the fact most people will be at a motel in Baddeck the night before, I'm moving the meet-up time to 9:00AM with kickstands up shortly after that.
With an earlier start, I'm hoping we can avoid heavy traffic at the base of Cape Smokey Mountain. There are a couple of other areas I've circled that we may experience congestion. This will probably be a ride you're "own pace" and we can catch up at various look out points. When I last road it, I couldn't ride it as spirited as I wanted, especially around the areas I circled, the pavement was greasy from cars braking hard and polishing the pavement so it was really slick, and next to no grip. (2018)
You will also need your National Park pass, though you can get by without if you mention you're riding through and not stopping. If you have the pass you just sail on through the gate in the lane marked with passes.
