Hi all, I just changed the oil and filter on my 2000 1100. Before it had in it Castrol 1 10w 40 part synthetic. Clutch action at this time was good. I could select gear and the back wheel would not spin in first with the clutch in. I have now put in silkoline super 4 10w 40 semisynthetic and the rear wheel spins a lot more when on the centre stand in first with the clutch in. You can stop the wheel with your foot (with a fair bit of pressure)and then it will stay still. Questions. Is this normal. Will it get better as the friction plates start to absorb the new oil. Or, should I drop it and replace with something else. I haven’t test ridden it as it’s still up in my lift so changing it is just the price of oil and filter again. Any ideas folks. Thanks in advance.

Darren, I concur, ride it.
10-40 will vary, ie there is a tolerance outside the 10 and 40 which may explain the drag. Just make sure it's OK for wet clutches and ride. And enjoy of course.

You can stop it and it stays stopped ? Doesn't sound like a problem. Pulling the clutch in takes the pressure off the clutch plates - it doesn't guarantee that none of the plates in the multi-layer clutch plate sandwich are in contact - so it is likely that there will be some transfer of motion when there is no resistance to stop it.
It stays stopped untill I let it go. It then starts again. But, once stopped I can hold it with little pressure

Don't worry, I see that when the bike is cold with 3 diff brands of oil I tried over the years.... even with full synth oil
