Good morning everyone

The Cubano roast by Mayorga is ready for you. Are you ready for it?

It's 70°F and becoming sunny (sunrise was just five minutes ago) in Rockville, going to 91 with "scattered light rain and showers" expected beginning around 1500 hours, along with a high of 91 (feels like 101). Yesterday's deluge had the decency to hold off until a few minutes after I arrived home, having finally completed a round of goof after aborting on Wednesday and Thursday due to soakings and dangerous lightning.

I'll drive out to the Shenandoah valley in Virginia today, to eyeball a potential venue for my extended clan's family reunion in 2028. We'll have about 125 - 130 attendees, probably, needing 35-40 living units. Cost, temperature, altitude, entertainment / recreation opportunities, and amenities are all factors in the decision-making process; it's not easy to find suitable properties and locales as a result. One of the next generation started the ball rolling with an AI-assisted search, turning up dozens of theoretical candidates around the nation which must now be visited and vetted for actual suitability.

Mrs. Fun will return home either Monday or Tuesday; I'm due to leave for NYC Tuesday afternoon and return on Wednesday, helping out a visually-impaired friend whose wife had a bad fall while they were up there almost a month ago. She's got Parkinson's, and has required an extended hospital stay but is due to be released on Wednesday morning. Since my friend can't drive, he's dependent on friends to cart him around. (Under ordinary circumstances his sainted wife has been his chauffeur but that may now change; it's certainly not an option while she's laid up, obviously...) He's understandably quite concerned about the shape of the future, and the whole incident has really shaken him and jarred his foundations.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

I've been away this week as Thing2 graduated uni with her 2nd degree. It's been hot. Yesterday saw 35 for the trip home. While we were gone, Thing1's car overheated on a rural road, so he parked it to get it the following morning. When he went back yesterday, it was gone. After calling various towing companies, he had to then call 4 police agencies to see who's jurisdiction it was. At this point, it's looking as if it was stolen.

Weather wise, there's still a heat warning out for today, but we may also get some much needed rain late afternoon & overnight. Temps are currently 18 and cloudy, headed to 31. Only a couple of wildfires currently burning here, #'s 330 & 331. They are currently under control & being monitored.

Lots to do today and tomorrow, getting things cleaned up from being away this last week, and then departing Monday for the week at WoodSToc. If you hurry, you can still make it. Car, cage, boat or bicycle. Guitars and ukes welcome. You get the idea.

Hope everyone's been having a decent week, and that that also continues.

It's 69, going to 88, later. Currently foggy after lasted night's rain, but it'll become partly cloudy, later.
We had quite the thunder and lightning show during some of the heavier rain.

I did get my gym on, yesterday, did some banking, and a bit of shopping, afterward.
We agreed on leftovers, so we dined in.

Today, is part of the MA tax holiday weekend, and the range is having a sale on ammo and guns, so I'll head over to pick up a 1000 round box. I don't think we'll be doing any shooting, though, due to the expected crowds. We're used to shooting midweek, when it's quieter, so to speak.

at first the stoppers feel strange, less 'venomous'... 🤔
sure: with the old, hardened rings the pistons barely retracted...

cleaned the ST1100 parts lot and stored all in the basement... 😥

nothing else in the books for today...
likely making use of the garden 🚿 and the deck-chairs ⛱️

tomorrow an early start though, ze GF has us booked on a MSL...

17˚C/63f, 20mph breeze from south, overcast, showers.

It’s peaceful in the cabin.
I’ll walk down to the sea in a bit, and fish for a while.
Found a nice fillet of veal in a local farmsale yesterday, and it’s going on the grill later.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the start-up, Keith! Very sorry to hear about your friend’s situation; glad you’ll be there to help him out a bit.
I’m currently visiting my sister in Ottawa, going home tomorrow. It’s hot and suffocatingly muggy here. I haven’t looked at the numbers, but suffice it to say that it’s hot…and muggy. We had a nice dinner on an outdoor terrace last night, not sure what’s on the agenda for today.

@Obo: Hearty congrats to Thing2! Sorry to hear about Thing1’s car, though. :(

Right, time for another cup of coffee and some brekkie. Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Thanks to Keith today for the southern roast... Southern is relative to where you are.
For our Ozzie friends and any Kiwis laying about, it would of necessity (by orientation, as we know it), be a northern roast.
I don't think folks down under can find a really good southern roasted bean, because they don't grow coffee in Antarctica.
But what do I know?
I've never been to Antarctica, not even to Ushuaia*.
But the 6-week bike trip from California to Ushuaia was a truly epic journey that Jim Hyde put together and filmed, a few years ago.
As an adventure rider, that lit my candles, floated my boat, and cranked my tractor, and the filming was out of this world. About 15 riders went, as I recall.
I think you can find it still on YouTube.
Wow, hadn't thought of that in a while. I need to watch that again.
Moving on... Yay and Boo to the @Obo Things, respectively.
I'm thinking some car thieves didn't get too far, if the engine had actually overheated... but again, what do I know?

Yesterday, hours after I posted, I remembered what else I was going to say.
But I forgot again.
Rain came down hard yesterday afternoon, but it had quit by the time I had to leave. Dodged that one, ...again.
Roz' rescheduled birthday dinner with the family went well last night, and we all ate like kings. And queens, but not that kind of queen. Some of us ate too much.
But no fresh-caught fish from Norway.

Morning Keith & All from another smoky skies day in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 75F, heading for 95F, (105F yesterday, in the Sun, was the high, today, probably the same). No breezes yet, but later the winds will be out of the WSW @ 9 to 12 mph.

@Obo great news on Thing2! Sorry to hear about Thing1's car!

I did some moving stuff from the garage to the sheds, and at first the cloud cover was great, no rain, but it kept things cooler, then the Sun found a large hole in the clouds, that was it. I had to finish what I could and escape back into the air conditioned house.

I still have a few things to move, we'll see how well the clouds cover things.

Once Chris is up, we'll figure out what to do for breakfast. Plenty of Pepsi(s) in the fridge, for later.

I’m sorta lurking about here, when I can!
I’ve bought a new place & I’ve been mowing vegetation, small unwanted trees & weeds to see what I have gotten myself into!
There is 9.4 acres of overgrown & neglected property, but, I’ve made some headway.
I bought an old Massey Ferguson plough, and an old Ford 8’ disc to reclaim some of the land. (once I remove & replant usable trees, they’re going to form a natural division along one property line)
Gotta run.
