Coldest Ride 2017-2018

T_C, you want me to put you down for 0° or 1°?

On a side note... is the ST-O site slow today for anyone else?

Thanks for the update Joe.

I saw 14° on my ride in this morning, although it might be a little colder tomorrow morning. Warms up after that.

Lots of cold temps again in much of the USA... for you more northern folk... is there too much white stuff on the ground to ride?

It was 10* for me, this morning ride to work. Supposed to be a little cooler in the morning......
Hey, might be a new Event- RTW....some of these Retired from work Riders may not show up tho. ;-)

May be a few days before riding again. And then only for a day or two.

This was last night in front of my home. Doesn't look like it but there is about 2 inches all over still. Cleared the driveway but wind blew a little bit of white powder back over it. That dark stripe in the middle of the street is NOT clear pavement but is ICE with hard packed snow over ice on either side. Was -3* F this morning, but no riding. We expect to see temps get into the 40s F in the next few days so conditions will improve but then still freezing overnight so will contend with melting runoff and refreeze in the mornings for at least the first day or 2. And then a big rain/sleet/snow event will follow this weekend. Eventually I'll get to ride in cooler temps again but not yet.

It was 10°-12° on my 35 minute ride in to work this morning, call it 11°... that's a record cold ride for me. My gloves were at about 5/8 and my liner at 1/2 on my Warm-n-Safe controller. Pretty comfortable the whole trip but by the time I rolled into the parking lot, my feet were a bit chilled. I guess I can live with that a few days a year.

8* for this mornings ride to work, with heated grips only. Fingertips were getting numb within 6-7 miles.
Hopefully my coldest ride this cold season...
Single digit temps are pretty rare here.

Geeze I'd at least worn a jacket and some pants. No wonder the monkeys were shivering.

I got some heated gloves that seem heavier weight than any winter gloves I've tried. Combined with heated grips I'm about to install and my WnS liner I should be good down to 40ºF. Oh and with some pants.

It was 37F for me this morning! Besides my NORMAL riding gear, I had on my heated liner & gloves (on full blast) and a nice toasty saddle! :D

Yeah, We've been having a heat wave here as well. Started out at 38 and warmed up to a balmy 42 yesterday. Been raining since Saturday, at least a mist to a steady rain, and that continued yesterday until it turned to snow last night when the temps dropped into the "kinda cold" region between 26-32*F. That's where we are now (26*F). Snow was washed away due to the rain, but then it all froze and was topped off with a dusting of white icing now. Still waiting for some moderately dry streets to ride on. Maybe tomorrow. With the forecast above freezing for the next week (at least during the afternoon) I'm almost thinking of putting away my heated gloves!

Put away all the heated gear on Sunday here... no need for it on the bicycle. Was a beautiful day for a ride.. but back to heated gear and the motorcycle for todays commute.

If it keeps up here we will have no snow left, 35 today with 43 tomorrow.

No heated gear saw 28*F on my 50+ mile ride to work.

Using what? Snowmobile suit?
I'm at 45+ miles and there is no way I'd want to do it without heated. Could I, yes, but just ain't fun.
I'm using a Gericke winter MC jacket, but it's not that warm for comfort. Same as my gloves, insulated, but not at 70+ mph wind chills.
