I have a ST1100. I like Corbins and am looking for a couple more inches of room for my passenger. I don't mind being close to the tank. I've been in touch with the folks at Corbin and they can make a CLOSE seat for the ST1100.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a CLOSE seat for the ST1100. If so how did you like it?

I know that several ST1300 riders have posted comments on their ST1300 CLOSE seats. I'd appreciate hearing from them too:

(1) Does it provide extra usable room for the passenger?

(2) Does the extra space on passenger seat come at the expense of comfort/room on the front seat (or do they simply get rid of the seat hump at the tank?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

Charlie

ST1300 with the Close Corbin. 30" inseam, no drops after 1 year, unlike my former ST1100 with stock seat. Pleased with Corbin's huge contact patch that, for me at least, virtually eliminates gluteus maximus fatigue. The Corbin Close does push you down to the tank, and does lift your boys, as you can imagine from the comparison pics. My wife won't ride until kids are out of the house, so no info on passenger comfort.

I had one for part of a season on my 1300, but sold it. Both driver and passenger have a definite pocket to sit in. The passenger pocket was too far forward for my wife to be able to use the backrest on my Hondaline top box. She didn't like not being able to comfortably lean back, so I sold it and Spencerized both halves of the stock seat. She likes this set up much better.

I liked the angle that my wrists hit the grips better with the Corbin Close seat vs the stock seat with stock bars.

My ST1300 had a Corbin Close model on it, along with MCL peg extenders, when I bought it from the PO, who had much shorter legs then me. While the wife found the back seat to be very spacious and comfortable, I couldn't ride more than about 45 minutes at a time. Not only is the rear of the rider's seat closer to the tank, putting my knees nearly in contact with the fairing, but it is also lower and firmer and the edges of the seat cut into the backs of my thighs at the angle they take to the tank.

I sold it along with the peg extenders and bought a stock seat that I'll be taking into Laam this spring. FWIW, I've had no complaint from the missus with the room on the stock seat, but we're both looking forward to the rebuild. If you have longer legs (34" inseam here) I don't think you'll find the Corbin a very comfortable ride.

Tough to compare the corbin close on the 1300 with the 1100.
13 close puts you a little closer to the tank and a little lower then oem but it's brutal after a 100 miles. Cinder block would be better.
Most reports for 11's and other bikes are much better.

Its about time they come up with that...
Quite some years ago I did order and test a standard Corbin in the ST1100 and being forced too far back in the saddle was among the things I didn't like...
I'd actually planned to get that thing gutted at a local saddler to get a segment installed, which shortens the rider's seat pan (besides wondering about the dimensions of US butts... icon_scratch.gif  ), but then rather sold the brand new seat over the hefty price for that modification...
