On my last bike the GPS was mounted on the dash. With the ST I tried having it between the handlebars. But, even with the longer arm, I just didn't work for me. So, I asked Steve to mount it on the dash. Here's what he came up with . . .

I've looked at the pics but can not tell what I am looking at. This looks interesting tho. How does it attach to the bike? Can you take a pic from farther back so the entire assembly can be seen?

He took some tubing and bent it to follow the curves of the dash. The second picture is supposed to show the 2 screws on the side of the dash. He replaced the existing screws with longer ones.

The 3rd picture is supposed to show a clip he made to attach it to the dash in the middle.

I wanted something that blended in and wouldn't be very noticeable. I will try to get the bike outside and see if I can?t get some better pictures.:

Thanks. :) Nice to have somebody like that...

I've attached a picture of the bar before it was cleaned up and painted

Hopefully these pictures will work better. I have a very slow dialup connection and I think I shrunk the first pictures a bit too much in trying to save time.

I was just doing some research on the best way to mount my GPS in the same location as you did (right on the center top of the dash) and came upon this mount design. I must say that I like the concept! Clean, yet effective. You could also add a shelf or ball mount for an radar detector which I would do.

I was wondering, how has it worked for you thus far? Is there any flex or is it solid (it looks like the clip to the dash would secure it sufficiently to prevent significant flexing)?. Unfortunately, I can?t really make out the clip design from the pictures. How is the clip secured to the dash plastic? What diameter bar did he use and is it solid or hollow? Obviously I am intrigued by the design and may sketch one up like it up and take it to someone I know who is like your ?Steve?. Anyway, any additional info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Funny you should ask . . . we just came home from a 5 day trip and I was thinking about how well this worked. It is very solid. No wiggles or flexing :)

He used 3/8" solid rod and 1" x 16 gauge for the clip and side pieces. He simply bent the metal to make a clip and hooked it in the slot on the dash. I'm attaching a closeup of the clip. Hopefully, it'll show more detail.

For my birthday, I asked for a CB mount. Same specs - no holes drilled in the bike!! He did it and it also works really well. It needs to be cleaned up before I can post pictures.

Steve's been cleaning!! He found a couple of these dash mounts that he had made to sell but, never got around to. If anyone's interested - $35.00 plus shipping.
