I have a 2005 ST, owned for about 4 months, and of coarse love it. But in checking gas mileage, every time, I notice that the reading on cluster always goes to 38.2 or 38.6, after a fillup .... with very little change. I do know that it is not dead accurate but should be in the ball park. I filled up yesterday, to the bottom of gas cap, set the cluster, within 5 miles it read 38.4, rode about 127 miles to a RTE, and it up slowly went to 38.6?? Rode back home, total of 263 miles put in 5.3 gals..... calculator out??? 49.6 MPG. I'm happy with that, but is this discrepancy normal? By the way, after this fillup, with a full tank and 10 miles on it, it again reads 38.2 ?

You have three settings on the mpg, off, average and instant. Reset it by holding the button down until it goes blank. To cycle thru your choices push the button and releace quickly. I reset it mine to average for most of my rides, again its just a ballpark average.

Look at the far left side of your dash panel. You should see three buttons: FCD/H; TRIP/M; CLOCK/ILLUM. If your fuel use display is set to AVG, press and hold the FCD/H button to reset your fuel use to "--.-". Release the button. Press and hold the TRIP/M button to reset your trip "A" or trip "B" mileage reading to "0.0 miles". Release the button.

Ride away and these readings will change, but be aware that if you have your display set to show the "AVG" fuel use, it will read quite low for the first few miles. This is normal.

I find mine is extremely accurate. One time when the fuel consumption display came on I purposely ran it almost to empty. Finally I ran out of nerves when, instead of showing less than 20 miles to empty it just started flashing dashes. I pulled over asap and filled her up. She took 7.2 gallons, exactly what you would expect with 20 miles to empty and 40 mpg.

THE TRICK IS RESET IT OCCASIONALLY. I reset mine every time I fillup, especially when I might need to rely on it. Otherwise it's showing your (lifetime?) average for how ever long it's been since you last reset it.

Reset it by pressing and holding the button in. You will see it go to " -- ".
