Day of Thor, sep 17th coffee

Mornin’, y’all. Thanks for the coffee, Stu.

I was awake, and thought I’d check in, since it’s been a while. I’ve been having some health issues, but nothing I can’t handle. Early spring, a change in my diabetic meds nearly crippled me with joint pain, and recently I’ve been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Started hormone therapy and had my first hot flash, which woke me up, so here I am.

Weather has been brutal. Three weeks of 97-100 degree temperatures and not a single drop of rain. We’re still looking at another week of upper 90’s. The weather guessers were excited because the high for next Monday is only 93!

Thanks for the coffee, Stu. @Nashcat good to see you back! Sorry to learn of the things that have kept you away.

It's 68°F and clear in Rockville, ahead of the sunrise set for 0651. We'll get to about 90 here- plenty warm for sure but not as brutal as Nashville. Rain is somewhere between possible, probable, and likely in the period between 1600 and 2300 hours.

I'll be riding Amtrak for most of the day, so slow is very likely indeed. But it's still better than driving I-95 would be. We're headed to Providence, RI where tomorrow Mrs. Fun will accept the award that her graphic novel has earned, then Saturday we'll take the train farther northeast to Boston and darken the linens at my nephew's place for a few days before we return home on Tuesday. Our longtime friend and erstwhile house cleaner will live here the the Casa la Fun while we're gone, so that ms. Brie has some human companionship.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

It's 65 rising to 76 in MA this morning. Partly cloudy, and there's the possibility of a passing shower this afternoon.

Welcome back, @Nashcat. I hope you kick the prostate cancers a$%.

I got the front porch kick plates replaced with composite, but it took a big chunk of the day. I should have used the Sawzall to start for the removal of the original boards. Instead I broke more driver bits and wore out a multitool blade, before I got the Sawzall out.
But, it's done.

Today, I'll head out to the gym, and maybe a walk with the dog.
Brenda is also threatening to cook !

Welcome back Nashcat, we missed you!

Ride to work was 10 and clear, except fog in low lying wet areas. 18 and mostly sunny for the high.

Gas took a big jump last night, and most gas stations were lined up last evening before the price bump. I didn't wait in line, nor have I seen the prices this morning, but the news said something around a 16 cents a litre increase. If so, regular will be around Cdn$2.18 a litre. According to my AI buddies, with the money and volume conversions that's US$5.90/US gallon.

I doubt we'll see an increase in pedal bikes on the roads. Electric cars sale increase? Maybe.

It's been really dry to your South here as well, but that means there's less grass growing so that means there's less grass to be cut.
Prostate cancer sometimes isn't as bad as the treatment or the cure.
Hope yours goes away quietly.

Keith, I hope that doesn't mean you're going to crap his bed. Maybe you mean you'll be drinking coffee in bed and you might spill some.
(I'm still on the very first of my first cup, so maybe that's why I came across so rude. Sorry about that.)

Speaking of rain, there's a 30% chance here today, and when I started this post there was no sun, only a soft light coming through a solid overcast. Now a few minutes later, it's more of a pale blue sky and no cloud to be seen.

So I reckon we'll take the car today, and maybe I won't make the mistake of letting it sit until I have to replace the battery again.

The double dark rubber hoops on the ST are showing only the slightest signs of tire wear. I need to check the mileage when I put them on. I know it was about 2 years ago.

On the other hand, the dualsport 50/50 tires on the GSA are telling me, I'm not going to be taking any long trips on them. Now that bike has sat for - what, 3 weeks? - the longest duration of not riding it since it came home from Kalifornia with me.

Not like I have the time for a trip, anyway.

So now that the whole world, or at least our tiny corner of it, knows all about Alabama weather and the condition of my tires, I shall finish my animal tending chores, push the garbage to the street, and mosey on to work.

Everyone be sure to say nice things to @Nashcat so he comes back some day.
 
Once again late to the party. Been a second checking and packing day. Checking the outfit over and packing and repacking the trailer to get the nose weight OK. Never done it before, almost certainly been way over previously, but we bought a new and heavier tent after our air tent decided it definitely wasn't waterproof and the airbeam started losing air at the recent sidecar rally. Both things could have been worked on, but we lost faith in it so a new one it was, we've gone back to a more updated version of one we had a decade ago! Anyway, the reason for all this packing... we are off to a series of sidecar rallies. First is the Vikings Sidecar Club extended camping weekend just outside York followed by a trip on the Hull to Rotterdam ferry en-route to Antwerp then the Berlaar Sidecar weekend in Belgium. Finally back across the English Channel, or rather under it on Le Shuttle, to the London Sidecar Club camping weekend with sightseeing at Dover Castle, Cantebury and Chatham Historic Dockyards en-route (I've been to all of them in my previous life as a Tour Coach driver, but Chief of Staff hasn't so I was under strict instructions to include them on the itinerary). Should be about 800 miles all in. That will take the outfit over the 170,000 mile marker and some!
 
Good Morning, thanks Stu, welcome back Nashcat . Was foggy this morning when I opened the gate at 7 am, clear skies now at 8:41, temperature 55 F high, don't know as phone is on the charger. Been enjoying riding around town this week as weather has been pretty good, which is what I plan to do today. Y'all have a good day G
 
Good morning peeps and thanks Stu for the coffee. 77 and overcast, the rain is light at the moment but supposed to be heavy later as we get to enjoy the remnants of a tropical storm.
The car work continues, the heater box was rebuilt and installed yesterday, so today the dashboard goes back in.

Welcome back @Nashcat ! I recently returned, but the length of my absence required attending the orientation class again. I was diagnosed with PC early this year and had the surgery. As Steve said, Hope you kick it's arse.

Morning all! Sunny and blue sky here, currently 15C now, 21C later.

Working from home today as we were out late and I wanted to ensure an adequate supply of shut eye. That didn't work out as the house guests have requested the heat be put on which means I turn into a melting popsicle. We went and saw Jimmy Carr last night. It was a great time. I am always impressed with how quick he is, particularly when working the crowd.

Nashcat, welcome back and sorry to hear about your health issues. Hopefully, they all disappear without leaving a trace.
