I have seen in the forum already that there is some question as to the pipes being labeled incorrectly, my problem is, mine are not labeled at all. I have tried both pipes on both sides, and had no success. The right side of the bike, the pipe and silencer lines up perfectly, fits nice and tight under the bag, like I think it should. On the left side, however, the way things line up it puts the outlet of the silencer up high, at too steep an angle to even put the bag on. Has anyone else had this experience?
Thanks in advance for all your help, would like to have these on today for an afternoon ride, but looks like I am going to have to put the stock exhaust back on until I can get in touch with Delkevic!

Tony

I'm guessing the problem may be with how you have the rubber "C-clamp" installed. You have to use a large pair of pliers to squeeze the tabs together so you can put the ears (the part the bolt goes through) on the inside of the frame (toward the tire). The clamp appears to fit better with the tabs on the outside, and they are definitely much easier to install that way but in this case, the easy way is the wrong way. I can snap a couple of pics if you need them. Let me know.

It's also possible that you have two identical connector pipes, meaning they are both for the same side. You might want to put them side by side and see if you can spot a difference between them.

Looks like the problem is the two identical pipes, I went back an looked at the packaging and they both have all the same numbers on them, it would seem that the designation 2/2 would be where I am looking for a difference, both of mine say 2/2 instead of one being 1/2. Looks like I will be getting in touch with Delkevic first thing in the morning to have them send me the correct connector pipe.. so much for enjoying that new rumble today on my ride! Thanks for your reply, and thanks for the tip on the clamps going to the inside, I had it mocked up with them on the outside and noticed that they would go inside and seemed to still fit, I think it will look much better that way.

Same thing happened to me! Both link pipes were labeled "1/2" so I had two left-side link pipes. They are sending me the right side link pipe asap. Tony, if you and I were neighbors we could have traded each other for the correct parts!

If you mount the clamps on the outside, the angle of the pipes will be such that you can't reinstall the side cases. Don't bother asking how I know that. I really don't want to discuss it. ;)

As usual here, ask and the answer will fall in your face! Thanks for all the advice, I will get with them first thing in the morning and have them send out the correct pipe, my excitement took a big dive when I couldn't get everything to line up! Thanks folks!

Just had my nice, shiney, new Delkevic stainless steel 18" mufflers arrive here in Western Oz. this afternoon. :)

Had already asked the local Honda shop for a price on a replacement OEM right hand muffler from Honda - was told just over AUS$ 800 :censored
(AUS$1 today = US$1.08)

At US292.95 for the mufflers plus another US$115.00 for USPS International Postage that was only US$407.95 - AUS$379.22
( and just 13 working days order to delivery) :toot1:

Compare that to AUS$800 plus - for just the one OEM Honda muffler - not contest.

OR from the Oz Delkevic agent - AUS$699 with an estimated 3 weeks wait for delivery  :censored - - - again NO contest.

THANK YOU to DELKEVIC USA and all the members here for their input and experiance with these mufflers. :yr1:

By the way - just noticed when unpacking them - these new mufflers have the 'Delkevic' trade mark on both sides of both mufflers. :capwin:

Mine had the label on both sides also, if they only would have packaged it properly with the correct matching pair of connector pipes, instead of two of the right ones, I would be excitedly talking about how easy they are to install and how good they sound (hopefully). Now I have to wait to hear from them, and hopefully they will expedite the connector part that I need, so I can get these things on!

Kneedragger916, did you contact them via email or just call and talk to Luke?

Tony, I called them on the telephone. Luke was not at work last Friday so Annette assisted. Although she did not know much about bikes or parts she listened to my request regarding part number with "2/2" on it. She immediately sent a UPS tracking # via email. As of today the link pipe was scanned "departure" out of Colorado with eta to my office by Wednesday end of the day.
I may be traveling this week so I will not have a chance to install the right side pipe until Friday :-(
The left side exhaust fit perfectly and saddlebags cleared/ fit perfectly as well.
If you have any questions call me on my work cell 408-210-5723.

Interesting - didn't think of checking those connecting pipes before. :nuts1:

Thought these things where made in the UK ???

Label on my both of my connecting pipes says ' Made in China '

At least they appear to be one left and one right hand side pipe - from the looks of them. :?:

One has some sort of thing that looks like a bracket of some sort on it - the other one doesn't.

But they are a mirror shape of each other as far as the bend go.

11pm here now - guess I will find out what's going on tomorrow sometime. :D

I am having what sounds like a different fit issue. The left side goes on perfectly, but the right side is angled outward from the bike.
The CL of the end of the left can is ~5.5" from the fender. The right is about 9.5" out. It doesn't look like I have 2 right or 2 left pipes, they are different.

Did anyone else have to muscle their cans into place? I thought I'd ask before i wreck something. I have emailed Delkevic, but it they probably aren't even awake yet out in CO.

Switch the front connector pipes.. I think it's common for them to be labeled incorrectly...

Thanks Mellow, I tried that but it didn't work. It moved the can too high to mount the saddle bag. Based on others' posts, that makes it sound like the connector is on the correct side. Switched the cans too just to be thorough. No luck.

BTW, the pipes have no markings, but according to the packing, I did receive 2 different ones (1/2 & 2/2) and they do look different.

Hopefully, they'll send you the correct connector pipes assuming that's the issue.. I can shoot some pics of them on the bike if that would help.

I was looking at your pics because I have the same problem with an ST1100. Looks to me like the right bracket is on the outside of the hanger and you have the left one on the inside. Is that normal?

Good catch!.. I didn't even notice that... Not sure that will account for how much it's off but fingers crossed.

I see your problem the band clamps both are to be on the outside of the hanger bracket , not tucked in close like your left side ! It,s all in the fiiting of the front pipes into the cans and rotating them till you get a nice straight line up ! Just leave all pieces loosely fit and line up and keep measruring as you go before final tightning ! I have a rear view pic in my album , you can check out . Good luck !

Looks to me like you have a link pipe that is bent incorrectly. Luke should replace that for you.
