You will need to make a list of your 'must haves'. There are more than a few riders here who find the electric windshield indispensable and some who say ABS is not needed. And of course the agony starts when you find the perfect bike (price, color, year, miles, accessories) but it lacks one of your necessary features. Good luck in your search.

Besides the electric windshield, there are no real differences in the model years 2003 thru 2007. In 2008 thru 2012, they changed a few things, but the basic bikes are the same as the earlier models.

For the States, there was only one color each year:

2003 Silver
2004 Blue
2005 Red
2006 Black
2007 Silver (Different than 2003)
2008 Red (Different than 2005)
2009 Red (Different than 2005 and 2008)
2010 Black
2011 - Only ST1300P models produced
2012 Black
2013 & 14 - Only ST1300P models produced

Please note the there a a number of changes between the ST1300 and ST1300P...some we are still finding out! :eek:4:

Thanks everyone this helps a lot. I found a 2004 non abs and a 2006 with abs now what to do. I am going to check out the 2004 next week when I am off work. I have not rode this model before so I will check it out. I am going to check out the nt700v not sure if it will work? Has any one rode the 700 how was it?

Boy, are you in luck... http://www.nt-owners.org/

Holy Cow! Joe's been moonlighting on us! :eek:4:

Been running that site for a few years. I helped Motorcyclelarry put it together but after his accidents and passing the members needed someone to take it over so I jumped in since I knew most of what was needed. So, yes... I've been moonlighting.

And here I thought one site was bad enough to manage! :rofl1:

I used to work on 7 I think... but I had to start trimming that down... I was going grey and not sleeping... lol not much has changed.

Well, Joe, I give you credit for keeping this site sane and if that site is kept up like this one, I'm sure they enjoy it too!

If you think the ST1300 is tough to find the NT700V are like non-existent. I searched for months and could not find one locally to look over. After buying my ST, I finally saw one at a dealer. I am happy with my 1300. Seeing your past stable of rides, unless your desire is for a very light bike, an ST may be in your garage next.
Mellow runs a great forum for both, best in your search.

Seems to me that the 2008 & 2009 are different (shades?)? Am I wrong?

I'm also Colorblind, so that doesn't help! ;)

The photos I've seen, and the note at ST-Wiki seem to indicate that Candy Graceful Red (2005, also evidently labeled in the U.S. as "Candy Dark Red") is *slightly* darker red than Candy Glory Red (2008/09) but that could just be lighting, exposures, camera processing, or other influences. To know for sure you'd need to see them side by side. But Pearl Coronado Blue is known to be the best color.

But, to the point of the original question: in the 2003 model year in the U.S. electric windshield was an option, and part of the package that also included ABS brakes. Starting in 2004 electronic windshield was standard. I do not know whether ABS ever moved from optional to standard.

Indeed the earlier Graceful Red is a deeper / darker red than the Glory Red. I've owned both and was a tad disappointed with my later colour. But when I see them in old photographs, I can't always tell which bike it is - due to the lighting and exposure. But park them side by side and it is very obvious.

In response to a previous comment, one significant change from 2008 was the front brakes, the ABS sensor arrangement and the ECU / engine mapping. The later version has much more low down-power than the earlier and will easily pull out of slow tight uphill hairpin bends without slipping the clutch. Not true of my 2006 model. No noticeable difference at higher speeds - except the later one doesn't pink in high revving uphill sections. Having ridden my current UK 09 model (which was built to the same spec until end of 2013), I wouldn't go back to an 06 even though I enjoyed many years and 70,000 miles of touring on it.
Maybe something was amiss with your 2006. Without dynometer comparisons showing different power output characteristics between model years I'd have to suspend belief Honda would remap it and then not bring attention to engine improvements in the ST1300 during the bike's waning years in an attempt to rekindle interest and boost sales.
