ezCan Pure - for Non-CanBus bikes.....

That's a cool bit o' kit. Adding FTP and FWH is very nice. Software for Mac is a big plus.
AND— they make it ez to spend more money! What's not to like?

Probably no PnP harness for STs. (But I haven't checked the site.)
Price. Unless there's a US distributer I hear the sound of cubic $$ leaving wallets.

Multi-cameras are good for sitcoms but that was just plain stupid. Maybe they were trying to convey wide appeal? I see that a lot on YT. Profile camera angles for no other reason than to show off what presenters think is their 'good side'.

Anyway that ezCAN is veddy intrestink.

It seems like a great way to add and extra led tail light and have it blink on braking when it may not come with that function. Or hook up something like the lonerider aux lights that have several functions like DLR, Fog, High Beam, signals in one light pod.

I have some Denali D7s and use the excan (bus version of course) so the center leds are running/signals and all led come on w/high beam. If I hit my horn they will strobe as well. And those aren't even the true smart-lights like lone rider lights. The Denalis take one circuit for high beams and one for left turn, one for right turn. The loneriders take one curcuit for all it's functions... very cool.

I've had an ezCANN on two bikes now. It's really a Fuzeblock with electrical fuses. At first, I thought it was great, but then I got to thinking. If I'm out on some deserted road in Nevada, can some electrical gremlin disable the bike? I can't see those electrical gremlins, but I can see a blown fuse.

I never used the electrical gimmicks. I tried the one where when the flashers go off, the headlights flash as well. Sounds great...except that I turned my hazards on when stopped in front of my mail box on the street and that flashing was aimed at the oncoming traffic. It was too much for what I needed or wanted.

Why did I get them? Well the first one was with the F800GT and they were giving them away to people like myself who were admins on forums like that to get the word spread. Free is hard to pass up. On my first F900XR, I went with the Fuzeblock route. Not the actual Fuzeblock, but a simple one on Amazon for about $20. It worked great, but took up a bit more space. When I bought my second XR, I opted for the ezCANN simply because of the simplicity and space. The XR (and I suspect almost all new motorcycles) seems like it is designed with a frame, and then the designers put shrink-wrap on them to suck the fairings up as tight as possible, leaving little room under the seat for anything.

But you lose any space advantage if you have to make numerous splices into the existing wire harness.

It's definitely an ez way for them to make money by you spending money. Of course, that's what marketing departments are for...to convince you to spend money on something you never thought you "needed".

Check this one out. I've used it on several bikes now.

It'll do several modes of brake flashing, and will even do the Night Rider sequential lighting like Kit.

I gave up at less than a minute. Too many camera angle changes and a little to intense on the dialog. Does looking at the front of his face, then the side of his face, then the front of his face, then the side of his face make the presentation more true, more correct, more interesting? Just jumpy video to me. Not interested enough in the product to tolerate the video.

Oh, and by the way. "You kids get off my lawn!!!"

The ST needs better tail lights IMNSHO so I'm all for adding a couple more. For brake lights I prefer at least one additional discrete brake light-only addition like the CHMSL/third brake light.

I've got a strobe connected to my brakes but it should probably have an On/Off switch as it can be a bit 'much'. Or at least wire it so it's on with only the lever or pedal. Someone here has already done that.

and will even do the Night Rider sequential lighting like Kit.
Which is a gimmick, but looks 'cool' on KITT.
Or a Cylon.

You have the option to have it do nothing but act as a brake light. My point is, you don't have to spend $250 to get much, if not all, the functionality. That light I mentioned above is only $40.

If I had the motivation for installation– $250 isn't all that much to get FTP and FWH along with ez's other options. Everyone's got their preferences and I don't expect mine to dictate anyone else's. Choice is good. That's my point.

I am wiring my new brake light integrated into my top box and the hex ezcan makes it easy to add modulation to the brake light. Just choose the option in the software. This will make me more visible when I apply the brake.
EDIT: I want to add about a feature EZCAN has that is neat to give an idea of what it can do and also in the event someone else has the need. I bought a brake light kit for my top box. It is meant as a brake light with signals but no tail/running light. The EZcan has an option where it applies power to the light all the time and you select the brightness in a menu e.g. 10%,20%,etc. and when you apply the brake, it goes to 100%. It turns a brake light only into a running light/brake light. Im really liking this feature.
