Revisiting the G/R and G/W wires (thanks Scooter). Looks like they are all at ground when the bike is in run mode. So my assumption there is a bias network in the FCE may be faultering. Might be a lot simpler than that...

Maybe simply monitoring the power source(s) would be sufficient. If one shuts off and the problem starts we'd know the cause?? Just add some LEDs and see if one goes out during failure mode.....

I thought about something like LED's to monitor the O2 sensor heaters, to see if they are involved with my specific 3500rpm bog down. The sensor output voltages are too low for LED's to be helpful. A meter would be better.

Don't the heaters run on 12V? I am pretty sure they do and if so the LEDs should work.

Sounds like you can just use a few of what you have. <Most> of the LEDs on the back will come on with your brake lights, the others will be on when your FCE is operating normally.

There's a funny thing. I just realised 473 of those LEDs are on the back, and none of them are brake lights....

...YET!

I like the LED-as-diagnostic-tool idea, but I don't know enough about the FCE or ECU to implement it.

I have been riding with the FCI all summer sense April when I installed it in less than a hour. If you do not have this installed on your st1300 you are missing out on a truly amazing mot orcycle. Unbelievable

I use the running restart with good results... I have also adopted the "Harley throttle blip" during long descents... it seems to help keep the O2 heaters on.

I am going to investigate the TPS and look into possible adjustment. I rode Goldie's bike and hers is nearly as good as mine without the FCE... mine was horrible and is now 95% better... but not perfect

So.....through all this, has Ivan been actively involved in finding solutions and ending up with a product that will work consistently on all bikes? Or has he been dealing with it on a one to one basis? I would like to try one of these but his no refund/pay all shipping policy has me waiting to see the outcome.

I've been using the running restart when needed with good results as well. I've also been experimenting with standing restarts when the weather is warm (bike in neutral, start bike, blip throttle a few times, cycle the kill switch, and restart) and it seems to work. Anyway, I will be selling my bike soon, so I recently removed the FCE. If anyone wants to try it, it will be offered in the For Sale section with extra bullet connectors in case it doesn't work on your bike and you want to resell it.

I've only had to do it once. I have the third generation FCE waiting to be installed. I'm hoping it will prevent the need to restart. But, with the way my bike runs with it, yes, it's worth it (to me).

I am definitely not satisfied and I am quite surprised that many seem to be jumping to the defense of the manufacturer. I have had 2 FCE, neither of which would work for any length of time. The manufacturer's position is send it back (at your expense) and I will send you another and maybe that one will work. If that is not acceptable too bad. Our policy is no refunds! If anyone thinks this is acceptable and doesn't mind shutting down their bike whenever the FCE acts up and then going through whatever ritual is required before re-starting (point bike north, side stand up or is it side stand down, count to 3, use kill switch or is it use the key?) I have a used FCE and extra connectors for sale. I'll even throw in the crimping tool! PM me if you are interested.

to me it certainly isn't. If it doesn't work hassle free, then what's the sense?? IMHO...so I now have a $130 paperweight sitting in the garage...

I have to agree that it seems a refund policy should be a bit more flexible.. I would say if after 2 returns the product still doesn't work then a full refund should be given.

It appears that this doesn't work for everyone and partially works for some and works well for others.. therefore, there has to be some other factors and using the public as a test bed but not offering refunds when it doesn't work is not a good policy in my opinion.

I can't and won't speak for Ivan, and it's his business and I will never tell anyone how to run their business.

As far at the poll and it's limited replies.. it looks like a 65/35 mix of good/bad results. If I were selling these I would prefer at least an 80-90 percent 'good' rating if not higher.

I put the stock pipes back on my bike to get a video/sound to compare with the delkevics.. this will put my bike back to stock, as far as inputs to the FCE product, with the exception of the G2 throttle tube but that does not affect the FCE operation. I'll be anxious to see if I now will or won't have issues with the FCE.. I'll run with the stock pipes for a while to give it a good test.

From the video that you posted, it sounded as though you are running lean with the Delkevik pipes in place. Since the TT FPR was designed to compensate for after-market pipes, etc., I wonder why the FCE is supposed to run without it? Does the fuel-cut elimination enrich the mixture to the point where the ECU balks if the mixture is further enriched?

FWIW: when I ride from sea level to above 6K feet, then shut off the bike for a while, it develops the shivering fits as described here on the way down again; hard time holding an idle, for example. Shutting off, then re-starting cures the symptoms. Sounds like I see the same situation as what you see but without my having the FCE.

I don't have a TT FPR installed..

Stock pipes have the same decel popping, you just don't hear it as much because it's not as loud... We'll see if my vid w/stock pipes will reflect that.

I do believe there are some issues with some bikes that the FCE might be magnifying.. I just wish I was more technical and new how to evaluate that..

My two cents...I've put 700 miles on my FCE on a bone stock 07 ST. No problems whatsoever. Not quite as rheostat smooth as some say..but a definite improvement.
