First Scheduled Service on a 2002 1100

I scored a 2002 with 11,000 miles a few months ago. I've finally passed 16,000 miles so it's time to check the valves etc. Being 24 years old I'm planning on changing all of the Coolant Lines, fuel and vacuum lines, etc. I'm planning on going to 20,000. What does everyone think about the cam belt, water pump, idlers etc?

Why? The belts are way overengineered and you can't tell a new from an old one.
If the pump is not leaking, I'd leave it alone.
Do hoses as it suits yourself - they seldom fail.

At the rate you’re going you won’t have to do the valves or timing belt until you reach the age of 75, seriously! 90k miles is when your first major service is do.
Just change the coolant and hydraulic fluid every two years, change the oil between 3k miles and 5k miles
You’re good to go

coolant lines, yes, everything else no.

the water pump is about $300, timing belts seem to last forever, OEM belt is about $150, idlers are about $100 each or so. No need to replace those items just yet, you have time and miles.

Thanks. I figured I was overthinking it. I figured since the Radiator and all the bodywork would be off what's a few more hours for peace of mind. I'll probably be putting 15-20,000 miles a year and maybe some cross country stuff in there. I would almost be embarrassed to do an Iron Butt on this thing.

I've put over 5,000 miles on it in a few months.

That isn’t unusual with these bikes, going for coffee is easily a 200 mile round trip.

Yeah 300 for lunch and back happens. These are the motorcycle equivalent of a Learjet

Seeing as you probably be taking the carbs off, there are 2 aluminum elbows that are prone to leaking due to crusty O rings. Those will be worth a look and probably change.

The ones under the carbs definitely fail, and leave people stranded when they do. With a bike this old, but with low mileage, I'm not sure which way I'd go on replacing those.
