I had to replace the right front fork seal. Typically this wouldn't be an issue but I can't remember how to measure the fluid level. Is it with the tube down or fully extended?

I don't have a measuring cup for volume measurement. The Owners Manual (p.15-20) shows a level measurement from the top of the fork tube to the fluid 62mm.

I've done this before and I can't remember what I did ....

thanks for the help.

The 62 mm distance is measured with the tube fully collapsed and damper rod also fully down, no springs. Measure 62 mm from the top of the exposed stanchion tube to the oil level. I do this with a small syringe with a short piece of vinyl tubing attached. The end of the body of the syringe to the end of the tubing is 62 mm. I overfill the oil slightly and rest the bottom of the body of the syringe on the top edge of the stanchion tube. I pull oil out until the syringe pulls air which leaves the level at 62 mm.

I do similar, but use a turkey baster. Wrap a piece of black electrical tape 2 or 3 times at a point 62 mm from the tip of the baster. Then collapse the fork tube and insert the baster into the top of the tube...you don't have to worry about eyeballing the tape and the top of the tube as you will be able to place the tube into the fork until the tape rests against the top of the fork tube. Then slowly suck the fluid until you are only drawing air. VOILA! You are done.

I under fill slightly and fill the last bit with a syringe dripping very slowly while I have the depth portion of a stainless steel shop caliper protruding down into the well the 62 mm - continue filling until the point at which the fluid just contacts the rod.

Several methods to accomplish the same task - just use what you have readily available/obtainable.

Thanks, you all are great!

I use a shop caliper. I hadn't thought of a syringe, great idea. I'll put her back together and move on to the next project.

thanks agin.
