Fork Seal Replacement Cost Estimate???

From Iron Pony website - not ST specific. They are located in Columbus, OH:

Fork & Shock Services

•Shock Recharge On-Bike $10 Off-Bike $10
•Shock Rebuild On-Bike $117 +Parts Off-Bike $65 +Parts
•Fork Rebuild On-Bike $156 +Parts Off-Bike $117 +Parts

My best guess is $250-300 for fork seals and new oil.

I priced it at my shop recently. 2 hours labor if you bring the bike in, 1 hour if you pull the forks and bring them in. Seals were cheap, 15 or so. It took me about 30 minutes to pull the forks off, 40 minutes to put them back on. If I remember right labor, seals, new oil and tax came to 115.00

I did the labor. Parts were $23.97-3 bottles fork oil, $39.16- 2 sets of fork seals, $11.16- 2 slider bushings, plus tax. $80.23 total parts. I did not replace the bolt sealing washers or the cap o-rings because the dealer did not stock them.

Just yesterday I had both fork seals replaced with new ones and new 10w fluid.

The shop rate was $70 an hour, and the job took a total of 2 1/2 hours.

So, with the cost of parts, the total including tax was about $215.

I will have this paid for in one month by simply cutting out daily visits to Starbucks.

Of course, I have no intention of actually doing that.

Yes, I could have tried to do it myself. But to me, the $200 and the convenience of having a professional do it was well worth it.

Hi Dana!

You are correct, and nor did I figure in the cost of an overnight stay at a
Best Western.

But, it was an adventure, and a great ride across our southwest New Mexico!
