I've been using an app on my phone called Map My Walk. You might try downloading that or something similar.
I use it to track my walks, both with and without the dog, and it's accurate enough for my needs.
I've also set it up to share data to the fitness app that I've also got.
I installed it, but upon registering found out it's a paid app.
Not expensive, but I am eliminating many of my paid subscriptions.
I might look for something else.
Or I may not...
Just shy of 70 years of (moderately) successful living without it, and smartwatches and all.
Although when I was running or bicycling daily, I did wear a heart rate monitor for training purposes.

There's a free version.
The paid MVP version gives you things that you may or may not need.
The free version is the one I've been using for years.
I downloaded it to my tablet, but didn't complete the sign-up screen, but there must be a way to use the free version.

Other popular activity / location tracking apps include Strava and Ride With GPS (RWGPS). Both have multi-tier price / subscription structures that start with Free.

I've settled on RWGPS and gradually worked my way from free to the top level subscription so that I had access to features I wanted. Free was fine when all I wanted was to record where I'd gone or plan routes, but to actually navigate a saved route with prompted cues you have to pay.

Here's the RWGPS subscription structure mapped to their features.

"Live Logging" reports and shares your position in real time. It's the functional equivalent of the old SPOT, kinda, or the web service that the Iron Butt Rally uses to show where each rider is over time. I've forgotten now what that's actually called, even though I was a user for many years.
