Darn Rodents!
Good early morning all!
I’ve got my grill all heated up, with Blueberry pancakes galore, lots of :canflag1: maple syrup & pail fulls of coffee!
Belly up & enjoy them while they are hot!
It’s a too far, to head to Port Dover this morning!
It will be a busy spot today! If you haven’t been, you might want to Google it!
Presently 60Fs/16Cs
Enjoy the start with lots of hot Java!
WB

Thx Brian!
Much appreciated.

Today is a rerun of yesterday.
I’m quite ok, Peter is not yet, but with kids you never know, maybe the turbo kicks in later.

Good news is that I’m scheduled for hand surgery in a month, meaning I can wear motorcycle gloves again in due time for the season.

Just below freezing, a bit of snow.
45mph wind later and heavy snow expected…
Let’s just see how that actually turns out.

Have a good one, it’s Ffffriday!
Stu

Red flags:
people who don't drink coffee...
people who claim that one cup is enough...
fear them... :coffee:

G'Day...

3°/11°C, partially cloudy so there actually streaks where the sun breaks through...
gusty winds though (normal when temps raise), expected to be picking up to significant gusts during the afternoon...

home and office mugs absorbed... ☕

client email: "... I need a quick offer for an a/c in a 26m²/280ft² room, target temp 10°~12°C/50°~53°F ..."
Right... like this would still be a/c... that's a commercial cold room me friend, totally different equipment...
And no info/data about wall types, ceiling, floor, type/tonnage of goods, desired/critical humidity, frequency of access & loading, nada... pfffff...
And without proper insulation they'll have the dew-point right in the masonry surface... I can already smell the mold...

Some make the process to 'recognize and satisfy customer needs' really hard... :cautious:
So I slapped him with a € 13,000,- quotation for an 8kW/27,300BTU/h ceiling evaporator, Danfoss condenser unit, DX valve, solenoid, controls, piping, etc...

However, its Friday... 😁

The gasket/seal for the GF's NT700VA thermostat housing arrived, gonna install that on Saturday... € 3.47,- for the part, € 10.30,- shipment... pfffff...

Weird design though, not an O-ring, instead a ring with C-shaped, open end inward cross section, dragged over the rim of the stainless coolant stat plate,
sealing when sandwiched between base and cover...
Omitting an O-ring groove in the aluminum cast must really save a fortune in production costs...
Far more: forcing one to purchase propitiatory designed spares...

WEEKEND!!!

Good morning everyone

Darn Rodents!

Well, rats.

They got to me as well; I've been up since 0400, awake for a while before that.

45mph wind later

That's gonna make it feel much colder. Does it howl and moan in the treetops of Norway at that speed, as it does here in my neighborhood?

It's 25°F and feels like 17. Later on it'll be sunny and about 38 and, thanks to solar effects, for much of the daylight hours it'll feel warmer than it actually is. At this time of year I'll take every bit of that I can get, with joy and pleasure. Ask me again in July or August and I may feel differently.

I'll finish up the tool cart today. To save time and effort, I've decided not to use glue anywhere on it, meaning that I could disassemble it later if I had a mind to. I can't see, at this moment, exactly why I might want or need to do so but it's nice to have the option.

It being just a piece of workshop gear, I've also decided not to spend time, effort, or materials on any sort of finish sanding (the oak and birch plywoods that make it up are already quite smooth and look nice) or finish application, apart from maybe a coat of BriWax on the top. I won't bother, for instance, with applying iron-on edge banding to mask the edges of the plywood. Function wins out over form, at least for now. All of those niceties could be executed in the future, if I end up changing my mind.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Morning all, and thanks Brian, for the coffee.

A Friday the 13th, a day before Valentines Day? Sounds like that has all the makings of a horror movie.

-12/-20 here, headed to -5ish and sunny.

There, my work is done. Well, my work here anyway. Still tons of the pay-for-service stuff I'm tethered to for the next decade or so.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Obo.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Brian.
Pancakes and maple syrup sounds good, too.

It's clear and 11, rising to 37 and become sunny, later on.

Yesterday's visit to the urologist went ok, and I've got a few decisions to make. I took Brenda and he took us through the progression from start to now.
I managed a walk with the neighbor's dog, afterward, and dinner was at a pub-style restaurant that she likes.
I also started my next Tom Clancy book.

Today, I'll head over to the gym, and see what else I need to do. I may check out the trail system in the "Outback", with an eye toward bringing the doggie there at some point.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Hah! That sounds almost like a "I don't even want your business" quote, but you mightve forgotten a zero. They may still bite on that if they're desperate enough!

G'mornin' from SoMD! Sitting here absorbing the coffee and brekkie before I head in to the office. Thanks Brian! Herd is fed too, wife still snoozing...an innocuous exit for our hero.

Played with the mirror cover model last night some but just to get a baseline estimate for printing...2 days and 7 hours. Yeeeaahh, gonna need to help that and beef it up to overcome the limitations of 3D printing. It will take time, but this is farther than I've been able to get in years of scanning trial and error.

Not much else on the agenda. Do need to get vehicle maintenance done so if not today then maybe during the holiday wknd.

Feel better Stu, and we're all rootin' fer ya, Steve...oops, bad choice of words! Take care y'all!

I've declared it as 'preliminary offer due to lack of information'... 😁

Whist designing a regular a/c kit works pretty straightforward, is cold storage far from it... many variables to consider...
(for the unaware: its a huge difference if apples, potatoes, carrots or any kind of meat will have to be cooled...)
So I simply outsourced calculations as 'I know a guy'...

Morning Brian & All from an overcast day in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 35F, up from 31F and heading for 48F. No rain/snow predicted today, they are saving that for Monday thru Wednesday of next week. We have a slight breeze now, but later the winds will be out of the N @ 16 to 18mph.

We never made it to Costco yesterday, Chris decided we can go next week, when the weather is worse!

Shortly after she made that decision, Chris got a text from our dancing granddaughter, that they were on their way to California for a dance competition, and thought they would stop by for a quick "say hello". Her and her mom showed up around 2pm and were here for about 30 minutes. Just enough time for Grandma to make some Chocolate Chips cookies, and send them on their way.

The other day, our Ring doorbell quit working, so I swapped it with a Wyse doorbell that I bought and wanted to try out. Which I'm not happy with, since if you want the options on it to work, you have to subscribe. :censored: Well, I got the Ring working again and it worked for a couple of days and quit again. So I swapped them back and ordered a new Ring. So, we'll use the Wyse until the Ring comes in next week.

:soapbox:

I'm really hating all these electronic gadgets. When they are working (after spending all day setting them up) they work fine, for a short time, then you have to play with them to get them working again and it seems to be a constant battle to keep them working! And then there is the "you have to pay us to keep it working, the way we told you it would work, but before we told you, you have to pay us! And I'm including "Simply Safe" too! :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:

Chris is not up yet, so who knows what awaits for breakfast. Pepsi(s) later, for sure.

Anyone :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Programmed obsolesce and paywall...
And just like with phone or EV you never actually own the device, as you've no control about what software they're running on or what data they transfer to whom nor where its stored...

Oh trust me, I know how this stuff works. After spending 50 years in the computer field, I learned long ago not to implement something new. And keep it limited, instead of what the device manufactures what you to install! :censored: :censored: :censored:

Well, it's done. Functional and utilitarian but not exactly fine home furniture, which is fine considering what it is and what it's for.

And all the junk cluttering up the floor now has a forever home.

Looks add if you measured well enough.
Considering a small curtain or some'at to keep dust off the tools?
Maybe Mrs. Fun could hem some material, and slide a lightweight rod through. Or not.
Maybe you want them visible, to show them off during your shop tours.
I'm just blathering, it looks perfectly fine and functional, with the casters and all.
Well done.
