G'Day...

5°/18°C, 60% RH, haze but sunny skies... ☀️
noticeable cold nights and mornings now... 🥶
time to slap the winter tires onto the trusty Toyota... :tire1:

ze GF is in home office (city swapped the gas-meter in the morning...)
slurped my cups aside before headed out to an X-ray center... :coffee:

yesterday that quack didn't tell me anything I didn't already knew...
once you pass the mid 30ies, your body starts to show sings of expiring...
you're gaining, hair migrates from the top of your head onto your back, joints ache, blood pressure climbs...
time for some spares...

img_2_1781349624381.jpg

he checked lung capacity and air-flow... both seem excellent...
still insisted on getting an Xray of that air-box, so I visited a radiological center...
again zero parking in the vicinity, great to call a motorcycle your own...
and they don't hand out their medical reports anymore... you've to download and print that yourself... pfffff...

food run in the afternoon, nothing else on the schedule...

and: last night we had to remove our Halloween decorations...
the "Scream" fluttering in the wind scared the neighbor's (new, spoiled, still fully untrained, thus misbehaving) doggo... pfffff...

weird times...

have a good start into the weekend 😎

Wow, another Friday!
Why and how do time pass so fast? Now that could be another oil thread….never mind.
Coffee’s ready, yes it’s Kjeldsberg, but if you like you can have a Carlsberg as well.

12˚c/54, 10mph breeze from southwest, quite sunny, looks like a nice day ahead.

Been out early for the usual stuff.
Now to clean the house, and make the stove ready, just in case.

Yesterday was rain all day, but we drove for ten minutes to take a walk on a lighted trail in the evening.
Very nice.

Have a fabolous Friday!
Stu

Morning all, and thanks for the double start gents!

Cage day here as it's -2 and clear outside (ice patches abound where puddles have frozen) and while it's supposed to head up to 9/5 later on, the rain's starting in about an hour. Ick.

Yesterday was the date studded snow tires could go on your vehicle here.

As for removing Scream, the goal was to scare someone/thing, or you'd have put out something cute and cuddly. Job success in my books. Maybe what you really wanted was just mediocrity vs success.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the double shot gents, MUCH appreciated and BADLY needed.

It's 61°F and cloudy in Rockville, where we had light overnight drizzle to wet the pavement, but not enough, I think, to endanger the round of golf planned to tee off late this morning. It was supposed to be / planned as an outing with three of the golf-playing neighbors but they've gradually dropped off leaving me all alone on the tee sheet.

I got a serious shock of BAD news yesterday evening, which kept me awake and highly stressed for much of the night- hence the reason I so much appreciate today's double coffee with infinite free refills.

Abruptly and completely out of the blue, the owner of the musical instrument store where my uke group has met for several years (free, gratis, and for no charge, a very generous act of the store) emailed the former group organizer to say that we're no longer welcome. He says there's a correlation or connection between our presence and a recurring plumbing problem that disrupts the store. Why he didn't contact me, I can't say, nor do I understand why there was not a single peep from him earlier.

I'm utterly at a loss as to how 20 people sitting in a room playing ukulele can cause a plumbing problem- we mostly don't even use the restrooms- but I've got no position from which to bargain. It's his store and he's given us the heave-ho. End of story.

The timing couldn't be worse: we're just a few weeks away from our big event of the year, a get-together with several other like-mined groups in the broader region. We really need to continue working on our music set and coordinating who'll do what, so we need a place to meet.

I made a mad scramble to find an alternate meeting / rehearsal space and discovered that many of the the local public library system buildings include meeting rooms that can be reserved. And the best part is that they're free to county residents.

After looking at a couple sites I found one that has our usual Thursday afternoon time slot free for the remainder of the year, so I've grabbed those slots as at least a temporary measure. I'll have to evaluate the viability as a long-term solution to our homelessness but at least we're covered for the immediate future and need, so our event can proceed as planned.

Now to get the word out to the club, and to think of a new name that doesn't mention the store. I guess our tee shirts are all also now candidates for use as dust rags, oil and paint spill mopper-upperers, and all the other uses to which such garments can be put. I've worn mine exactly once, but never again.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, guys.

It's cloudy and 52, becoming rainy and the temp will eventually rise to 68.
'Rain this morning. Scattered thunderstorms for the afternoon. Storms may contain
strong gusty winds. High 68F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 100%.'

I did get out for a walk with the dog, yesterday, for a little over 3 miles.
No gym, but our public library is having a book sale that Brenda and I attended, and we came away with a few books for me, and a few more for the grandkids. I was also reminded of a couple of authors, who's books I've enjoyed, so I'll keep an eye out for their books.

Brenda got an email from the guy who amasses corner marshals for the 24 Hours of Lemons gig that's happening in NH this weekend. The upshot of that is that she'll work the two days, and I'll work Saturday. I was waiting for an earlier message from them, and when nothing came, signed up at Thompson for their event on Sunday.
I get the feeling that they were running short of workers when they remembered us...

Today, we'll hang out this morning, then swing over to our son and DIL's place to watch the grand kids. One of us will need to take our granddaughter to her drum lesson, later in the afternoon.

Martin, it's too bad about the Halloween decorations, but you've got way more up than we do.
Keith, what can we say about a uke group blocking up their toilets? glad you were able to come up with an alternative site.
Stu, we've been taking yearly walks along the beach in RI. Your photos are reminding me that we've missed this year's trip.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

... too bad about the Halloween decorations, but you've got way more up than we do...
The inflated/illuminated figurines were only present for the GF's grandkid visit and got packed up again after 24 hours...

It'll soon turn out that we're not allowed to move in our own garden anymore, as the doggo reacts with stressed out yapping on every blade of grass wiggling in the wind or leaves falling off a tree... :cautious:
Their two, uncontrollable and completely hysterical teenage daughters are living proof about their inability of raising anything, so the poor pet's path of growing into a "problem dog" is already preprogrammed... sad, as that three-colored labradoodle looks kinda cute and cuddly... :(

Admittedly some of us are fairly crappy players, but ...

I'll never know what was really behind the decision but it doesn't matter: we used to be welcome and now we aren't. Case closed.

Thanks for the Euro-coffeess, fellas.
Black Rifle here of you'll like, unless you've already left for work (@Obo ), as I'm not Uber-Eats or Door Dash and I don't deliver.
Interesting move by the music store owner, Keith. Leaves me wondering, as well.
But some things you just can't explain.
Especially when we're talking about human behavior.
Slight chance of rain this afternoon, but it's worth the risk riding with the pup. Risk awareness and risk acceptance, you know.
No breakfast meeting this week. Two of us couldn't do Thursday, and were going to meet today instead. But Scott has work stuff today after all, so no hubcap pancake or smoked sausage.
Next week, I guess.
I align with Stu about the passage of time. It seems like it was Friday, only just a week ago.
Weird.
But as Stu is retired and can now do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, I can understand how his life is so busy.
For me, the worst part is, the weekends fly by even faster than the weeks do.
As I mentioned above,... some things you just can't explain.
Enjoy the weekend.

Oh, what a beautiful morning…..Thanks for the cup, guys.

It’s finally here!!! Cool weather!!! Well it gets here in a couple of hours. 65 and calm right now, but at anytime the wind picks up to 30 MPH gusts as the temperature plummets to mid 40’s tonight. That’s more than a 20 degree drop from the last month, and all at once. Time to get outside and do some yard work, since the summer temps have pretty much kept me inside.

John

G'mornin' from the office! It is a cloudy 65F/18C and expected to hit 83F before rain and storms boil over.

Boy, fellas, it was close. I zipped out the door without my morning brew, knowing that I'd find solace in a fresh-made cup once I got in. BUT, when I went to the Keurig maker (I use my own refillable pod), I found it broken in pieces! NOOOOOOOO! It seems the custodial staff had accidentally knocked it off the table sometime this past week, cracking the water reservoir and several panels off of it. A panic ensued as I wasn't sure I could prevent harm to anyone or myself. However a colleague allowed me use of their single-cup dripper, and all was safe again.

Well, tonight is opening night for our show. Tech/hell week has been just that, being a new musical there is lots to learn here to make it a viable production. And I hope the playwright (who is also directing) will take what was learned to make it smoother for the next troupe. I myself am barely getting it done, but at least we've found a very competent young lady to run lights and sound. She picked up the program real quick and was making tweaks in no time. One less thing for me to worry about. On with the show!

Keith I'm sorry about the loss of your space. As noted, sometimes there's an underlying reason they won't tell you because it is petty or embarrassing. Their loss as now a whole group of musicians will no longer shop there. I do hope the library works for you at least short term. Because we were singing (loosely speaking), we couldnt use the library rooms due to the noise. I hope ukes are more friendly to the book patrons.

Welp gotta go, take care y'all!

Morning Martin, Stu & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 39F, up from 36F, and heading for 67F. No breeze yet, but later, the winds will be out of the NNW @ 6 to 10mph. The Weather Guessers keep changing the next scheduled storm, so, maybe next week, sometime. We'll see! :well1:

Mark, seems Chris's back (a pinched nerve?) is giving her a lot of pain lately. Sounds like her a Roz have something in common. And she has her Quilt Retreat next week! :old1:

I took Chris's Highlander down to the car wash yesterday. Trying to get it home without getting a dusting, due to all the construction going on is almost impossible! :spank1:

Then, late last night, Chris sees a small workbench that a neighbor was getting rid of, so I went over to their house and grabbed it. The problem was there was no lighting and I had to remove the upper part to get it into my truck. I also managed to trip over the curb, due to it being so dark! :chairfall1:

I have no idea what my plans are today, but I have a feeling I'll be helping Chris out a lot to help her get herself ready for the retreat.

No breakfast yet, we'll do that once Chris is up. The Pepsis are plentiful, since I've had to cut back on drinking them. :cautious:

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

Possible a revenge by your IT admin going havoc on it after it caused a gazillion GB of unnecessary network traffic? 🤔

Morning all! Sunny with some cloud right now. 8C currently, high of 18C later.

Working from home today so that we can get ready for our trip to Vancouver this weekend. Our daughter is competing in a body building competition so we're heading over to support her. Things need to be packed, car cleaned, house set up for our other daughter who will take up residence and look after the pups while we're gone. It's just an onslaught of chorein'....

Hope everyone has a great day and gets pumped up!

I guarantee you that IT here in this govt facility doesn't give half a fart about our bandwidth unless Teams meetings with 80+ useless faces are the issue. Those meetings I try to avoid as I never get anything out of them.
