Grips for ST1300

I bought grip puppies and like them. Fatter grips keep my wrists from feeling like there holding up two hams (numb with thin)

Had Grip Puppies but mine tended to hold quite a bit of water when it rained. I recently switched to the BMW grips and love them.

While you are switching grips, now would be a good time to install Symtec heating elements underneath the new grips. Mine work great.

+1 on the BMW grips and installing grip heaters at the same time, that's what I did. Dual Star grip heaters controlled by a Heattroller control.

Much more comfortable than the rock hard Honda stock grips and much less expensive than the Hondaline heated grips that are still very hard.

Another +1 on the BMW grips. I just swapped mine out earlier this spring. Night and day difference for me compared to the grip puppies that were on the bike when I bought it.

BMW grips are much better than stock for me.
Also installed the symtec elements at the same time. Easy farkle.

BTW shop the symtec elements. The prices went up at symtec.

I see the parts #s for teh grips but I can't find a website to order from--any ideas? I've googled and seen a million site but none that were for BMW motorcycle grips! Frustrating...:Chair1:Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Give a BMW shop a call...??

I remember North Dallas BMW (Not sure if that was exactly the name..Mellow?) gave us a great deal on an Autocomm group buy and they were really great to deal with..Look em up..They can probably help you..

As far as grips..I agree with CabinPete about thicker grips..
I had Honda heated grips and then grip puppies over that (The ehated grips take care of the water the puppies hold..put em on high for a couple of minutes.)

I do believe the BMW grips are probably the most comfortable out there if you want to spend the money.

I tried the BMW grips, and with my relatively small hands they just didn't work for me. My favorites, and I've tried many different types over the years, are Grab-On foam grips. They soak up vibration and bumps like nothing else. YMMV

Just installed BMW tapered grips. They feel very good while riding and I think will make a big difference. I used some hairspray as mentioned in previous posts and worked well.

Cheers

Anyone know the name of the company that actually makes the Grip Puppies or there web site, not a dealer.
The 2008 ST-1300 I just drove back to Ca. from Indiana had them on it when I picked it up and after 2700 miles in 4 days of driving I had to say I was really impressed with the GP's. When I saw them I wasen't at first but after holding on to them for 4 days I was ready to change my other bikes out to them.

If you don't already have oem heated grips the symtec elements w/ bmw grips is much cheaper. Some have had issues with the oem reliability as well.
The difference being that the symtec has high and low settings not a controller. IMOP it works fine w/o a controller.

Purely a personal perspective, I know, but I have had the OEM heated grips from new and they have never given me a moments trouble. 7 years and 90k miles on, they are a bit tired (the grips, not the heaters) so I am seriously considering a replacement.

I thought they were grip puppies but now I don't think they are.
The grips on the 2008 I bought are foam but not flat across. They have a contour in the center then contour smaller on either ends. Anyone have an idea what they are.

I think I found them
http://www.grabongrips.com/motorcycle.php

Has anyone else tried them.
