I would not be putting a whole lot of faith in it myself. Not that I liek the idea of buying a new $600 headlight assembly.

They list the cover as only fitting the '09-'14 ST1300. And the picture they show is not an ST1300 assembly...
But maybe it can help deflect nicks and chips from small pebbles.

But anything in the path of light transmission will have an affect.

I tried one of those with my '05 ST1300. The sticky on the plastic connectors came loose and pretty much screwed up my headlight. Then my accident of 2008, caused to have the headlight replaced, so I didn't try reapplying it.
 
No problems with the Ventura headlight cover on my ST1100s. Been on for years and two of them have 'knicks' in them that would have cracked the headlight. But the ST1100 headlight is a little flatter and less complex than the ST1300.

I'd be tempted to get one if it was available in Fog Light Yellow. The Lantern Green is a possibility. (No not really!)

Obviously this wouldn't stop a rock thrown up from a bottom-dump truck. But like screen protectors on phones I think it could go a long way to keeping the headlight lens pristine. I've never looked at the headlight lens closely but my windscreen has a lot of little pits from flying road debris.

If made really cheap it could cause noticeable distortion of the light pattern but it's likely not noticeable at all.

The pictures shown look to be generic pics in that they're probably used for all the bikes they cover.
 
Looks like something I'll try. I had a similar lens protector on my ST1100. I have a Ventura-like protector now, but don't particularly like it. Thanks for the link.
 
I have one of the hard plastic (molded) protectors that attaches with the 3M velcro like dots. It was not molded to the shape perfectly and one corner does not mate w/ the 3M velcro but it sure does protect the headlight from all sorts of bugs and road debris. I would think the film would work for small stuff - but not a sharp edged piece of gravel thrown by a truck tire.

However, mine cost, iirc, around 50 or $60 and came from the UK, so I'd try a $20 piece of 12 mil vinyl film in a minute. They say its for your bike - if it doesn't fit, call them and then cancel the payment w/ your charge card. My only concern would be with the glue used to attach the film to the bike. What happens in say 3 years?

I have the same one from the same place, the middle upper Velcro is only halfway tight. But I'm in no way worried about something like a rock braking the cover or headlight.
OldNinja bought the same thing for $50 something from a place in So California. I'll text him, ask him for info.

The place I got mine from overseas did have two or three colors and cost more.

Have had film paint protection kit on my bike for years; probably close to 9 or 10 years. If I remember right it is maybe 5 mil on the painted parts and 11 mil on the headlight. It's showing its' age and needs to be replaced but I think it has more than payed for itself over the years. I installed it myself so it wasn't perfect but close enough for me. The thicker headlight cover had a couple of wrinkles on the lower edge but nothing to affect light output. The reason it needs to be replaced is it is dulling out from many cleanings over the years and thats about it.

Found an old picture from 12/06 showing the front of the bike with film in place.

If you look close at the front of the front fender you can detect the film edge but the rest is hard to see. It even covered the turn signal lenses along with the faring below the windshield and headlight.
 
LOL, I guess no one has tried these yet then. I see a lot of other brands talked about but not this vendor. Guess I'll try them and let you know.
 
I've got the Cee Bailey's as well since '09 and love it. Mine only has the 4 corners with Dual Lock with clear bumper dots in the middle. Never fallen off. I take the cover off when cleaning with a real small screwdriver. Just stick it in and twist and it pops right off.

I've wondered about the stuff, what are the signs of it being to old? How many years do you usually get out of it? I can't be the only one curious.
 
I have been using the plastic one on my 03 for 8-9 years now I use the hard plastic industrial Velcro never had a problem with it staying on and it fits perfectly. I bought a second one for my 04 from a member here unfortunately its cracked I am going to try and plastic weld it.
