I only got one taker on my offer of a ride to Heather Meadows. [https://www.st-owners.com/forums/threads/heather-meadows-on-friday-6-12.191925/] Steve Larson from the COG and I had a great ride in excellent weather with great roads.
Steve led through a short detour on some backroads in before we hit Acme, WA. I looked all over, but I didn't see Wiley E. Coyote.
North Fork Nooksack River
Heather Meadows is the home of the Mt. Baker Ski Area, so it is open all year long. I wondered how much sand we'd find still on the road, but to our pleasant surprise, there wasn't any till we took the short road up to Artist Point. In all fairness, DOT had just opened the road, so they probably have a sweeper scheduled, just not by the time we went through.
This screen capture from Google Maps gives you an idea of what the Mt. Baker Hwy is like. It starts as just some gentle sweepers and then gets a bit more interesting. At the end to the bottom right, it looks like someone just dumped spaghetti on the map...and it rides like that.

Steve with Picture Lake to the left.
Here's a picture of Mt. Shuksan. Picture lake is in between the bike and the mountain, but the place I parked pretty much hides it.
Steve's Transalp
While we were there, Steve found a friend. The coloring was almost identical.
I had to take this picture. What's hard to believe is we have had less snowfall this past winter than any time in the past.
Some other pictures. Probably overkill, but I'll share them anyway. I love the contrast between the sky, the landscape and the snow.
To get some perspective, that is a three or four-story building down there, and it is tiny.
