Guys, I have the Honda accessory fairing extenders mounted on my bike. The 3M tape that came with them has turned loose in a couple of places. What glue or adhesive can I get in a tube or bottle that will bond with both surfaces? I don't want to remove them and if I can wipe the surfaces with cleaner and then squeeze something in there before clamping that will dry and hold permanent - I'd be a happy camper.

Thanks in advance!

Try some 3M molding adhesive. Can be found at any parts store. P/N MMM 8101 or P/n 03602

Mine came loose after low siding. I eventually peeled off the affected pieces, carefully removed the old tape with a heat gun and leather gloves and reapplied fresh 3-M trim tape (autozone with a 20percent discount coupon). I was very meticulous and cleaned all surfaces with degreaser before applying tape and reattaching the pieces.

In hindsight, I spent more time trying to figure out a way of not starting over than I did by simply breaking out the heat gun and starting over. YMMV.

+1 on the 3m trim tape, you can get it just about anywhere... if it came off then it's possible the previous application didn't include cleaning the surface w/alcohol first.

Not starting over is a mistake, IMO. Don't settle for something that isn't made by 3-M.

Well, I jumped in the car and rode to my nearest NAPA store this morning and picked up a tube of 3M 08061 "Plastic and Emblem Adhesive" with the idea of taping off the area just below the trim so I don't get any squeeze through. This is a tube ($12) and the same area on both sides are loose - those just outside the glove boxes. All of the other areas are tight.

I cleaned those areas as directed and I mean cleaned them thoroughly. Not being satisfied with the wet napkins Honda supplies, I first went with a bottle of alcohol and then went over a final time with the Honda wipes supplied. What do you all think?

Start here for how I did it (these were just the knee pads, but you can do the same for the deflectors...(which I have done also)

replacing 3m tape
