Hi all. Need help pls. In the uk. This has been a job for last 2 years.
After it broke down repeatedly ( 13 times in an hour) I started work on my pan at last. Depression meant not had the head space. So fairings off. Tank off. Air box off. Symptoms as follows. An old post but never sorted it so it was just left in the garage. Although no f1 faults I am changing the map sensor. Checked the little 5 way splitter. Clean. Changed fuel pump and internal filter. What next as so deep into it.

This is description of the fault and video. Note this surging only occurs towards the time it cuts out and notice when kt does the rev needle dies immediately. Also note on cranking once dies the rev needle doesnt move. The surging is without any input to the throttle and only a short while before it cuts out.

"My low mileage 2007 st13 cuts out when warm. Does not cut out for first 20 or 30 mins. Once it cuts out it wont start for a few seconds. Once it starts cutting out it does so more often. Say every few mins. It is not overheating. Cant be crank sensors as it starts after 10 seconds or so. Check battery and charging at normal levels. It has spent 6 weeks at bike shop and they not touched it. I am at a loss. Tried running with fuel cap open. No difference."

So today. Kinda worked out it was most likely a crank position sensor. So. Problem. I have no spark. I have not changed anything yet. It ran for around 30 seconds and i was ready to switch off and start work when it died. I now have fuel delivery but no spark on either side. Before i start swapping bits out, any advice? All lights on. Kill switch operating. No f1 codes. Went ahead and changed cam position sensor. Same, no spark

It is working, and then it doesn't ?

I would check your earths - the main one on the spar in front of the seat adjuster. Might have to lift the tank. Take it off, make sure the contacts are clean and the ring on the bunch of wires is clean and shiny.
Check the black/white leas that all join together in the muttiway connector behind the ehadlights.
Check the contact at the back of the coils - the coils make contact with the frame and the metal strip that runs around the back may be rusty,.
Check the neutral indicator and side stand switch. But the bike should start regardless of the side stand if the bike is in neutral and the light is showing neutral.
Check the terminals at the 4 pin terminal with the 30A fuse tot he rear of the battery on the right hand side. Look at the pins (careful, it is live). Check the 20A fuse blades are clean.

Also check that the terminals to your battery are clean and tight, and that your fuse blades in the fuse boxes are not oxidizing.
