high mileage awards for satnavs?

Here’s my previous GPS. Garmin Nuvi 54. New in 2013 I think. I carry it in the trunk as a backup on long trips in case the "new" GPS quits.

You want to know why you can’t trust GPS data? Have a look.

If it's cumulative, the moving average speed shouldn't exceed the max speed. (Duh.)

But on my first fly 'n ride, I took a new GPS on the plane.

Can't find my picture of the 530-or-so mph...

I only had one motorcycle GPS that I never reset and it was a Garmin 2730 from 2006. I think it showed 54,xxx miles when the screen digitizer failed.

GPS's can glitch real easy. They get one bit of sat data wrong like a +90 east location instead of the -90 west real location and you just went around the world in .0001 seconds. My old GPS had a top speed of 1,100 mphs per hour when that happened once. Of course I never reset it after that good bit of speed. And that mileage total is the result of bad sat data bits too. It probably had 200,000 miles on it as I had it in the car on the bike and when we flew places for a few years.

Can't trust the data but it is something that a 20 year old GPS still works. Mine don't last that long.
