Highway Blades - Full Kits! 1100/1300/1300P

Cool! Thank you Dylan, my order is in.

Just out of curiosity, will there be cut out templates for the plastic covers? Or would you consider adding pre-cut covers eventually to your items for sale?

Thanks again!
Ryan
Ryan!!! Thank you for the order!

I do not have the templates done yet - but I am working on it and will certainly send them along ASAP - and YES I do plan to offer the covers already cut, but realistically I am a few weeks from having them ready. Will keep everyone updated :)

Thanks again Ryan and will send along tracking when I get them shipped !

Best,
Dylan

Order received! They look great, the feel pretty good too! Haven't got them out on the highway, just a drive around the neighborhood, but it is definitely going to be great when you need a position change on a longer ride.

They came packaged very well! Dylan even included a little energy boost to get you started:

I pulled my plastic covers off, had to clean up the crash bar and get a close up so a certain OCD person doesn't tear my bike apart with his eyes. You know who you are! ;)

Put them in place and screwed them down!

Thanks! I will give a ride review when I get a little more time on them.

Just following up on this. We did a 1000 mile trip over a couple of days to Oklahoma and Arkansas. The long, straighter roads (highway 82) in Texas these were great! I pretty much just rode with them out and open, sat back and relaxed. It definitely changes pressure points and surprisingly steering seems to lighten up, you can almost steer with the pegs. Recommended! I have not yet cut covers, it doesn't look too horrible with the cover just removed.

Off topic, but for this trip I rode with a couple of buddies one on a 2006 Goldwing and a 2012 (I think) Vulcan Nomad 1700. The ST1300 is definitely the fastest, gets the best gas mileage and has the largest tank. We were connected through Sena most of the trip and usually the Vulcan rider would come on and say "I need fuel, again", mine was normally just under half a tank and needed ~4 gallons to top off. We calculated out each stop, I averaged 42.5mpg the entire trip (best was 45.2!), the Goldwing was getting ~38mpg and the Vulcan was right around 35mpg.

It's great to see that you went the extra mile on the "cop" tipover bars! :thumb:

This is one reason, I have not put the Cop Tipover bars on any of my bikes. I like having the tipover wings on them!

Update Alert!

Still working thru some website improvements but it is time to let it fly! If you navigate to the top of the page over the products drop down, you will see a section for the ST :)

I have several 1100 and 1300 standards ready to ship and the 1300Ps should be ready by Wednesday!

Hello Everyone!

Quick introduction - My name is Dylan Spink, I am a motorcycle and machine tool addict. I have long been designing and making parts, mostly for my own addiction to long distance motorcycling. I rode an ST in a Butt Lite Rally, and rode the 17 and 19 IBRs on old Hondas. Professionally I am a Mechanical and Manufacturing Automation Engineer in the med device industry.

Currently I run my Engineering / CNC shop nights and weekends. I plan to offer a small catalog of awesome parts, and the first thing hot off the mill are these replacement MCL wings!

I reverse engineered a GEN 1 version, and suspect these will also fit GEN 2 mounts. I have a set off to a friend to confirm fitment and will update this post once I know for sure.

Any questions please don't hesitate to reach out - email is quickest but certainly will be checking back here as well. I welcome any feedback or ideas / suggestions for other parts as well!

Best,
Dylan Spink

Just wanted to stop in and say Hi! We are working with an awesome anodizing company and also have a fantastic powdercoater we are working with. So very soon we will be offering everything with optional coating... website is updated for the Transalp Racks but gives you an idea on finish options!

Thanks Everyone and reach out if I can help with anything!

Best,
Dylan

Are you offering the covers precut or a template to cut the existing?

OMG are these still available?
I bought a set from him a month ago. I’d recommend sending him a message via his website. Took a couple days but he got back to me and still had a set. Not sure if he has more or not.

Hi Dean!
Certainly open to engineering a set for the 1100 - had larry offered an 1100 version? If so and anyone has a set they would be willing to send my way for review - happy to work out details and reimbursement!

More interest than I had anticipated for the mounts as well! I have started a waiting list and plan to start design this week on the mounts.

Also have started a waiting list for footpeg lowering brackets as well - question to the group, how much drop? Certainly could offer several versions (mimicking the MCL design) One other thought was to remake the entire footpeg mount plate. Not sure this would be economically feasible but would be by far the most elegant design.

Got it ! Marked on the list, thank you!

(Edit - reviewed this thread again and see you have a "P" version - see below follow up post to Ryan - I will mark you down for the P variation :) )

Thanks everyone!

Talk soon,
Dylan
Dylan, any chance of you making those light mounts that put lights under the mirrors? I don't know if it was motorcycle Larry who made those I don't think so but those were quite popular and you'd sell a bunch.

I don't know if it was motorcycle Larry who made those I don't think so ......
Motorcycle Larry did indeed make these. I believe that I read that they were a copy of the same basic design from Dick Saeng bit I am not sure about that. Neither one are available new anymore.

I have a set of what I believe (not 100% sure) are the MCL version of the footpeg lowering adapters Dylan. Without having actually installed them, they appear to move your feet outward. Not good, so I'm likely not gonna use them.

I have no input regarding under mirror light mounts but people seem to like em.

Correct on all points. MCL made his light mounts nearly identical to the Saeng mounts but the horizontal mounting bar was significantly longer to accommodate some Baja Fuego brand 4" lights clearing the fairing. They looked awesome.

This is the pic that appeared at MCL's site for the mounts and lights and Larry's ST. Badass.

I don't know that those lights are made anymore. They were large and heavy and halogen. They could fit either 55 or 100W H1 bulbs. That's a lot of amps. LOL.

LED lamps changed the whole lighting landscape. But they don't make an LED replacement for those lights that I've seen.

Hi Dylan, I am genuinely interested in this type of highway blade for my ST1300 (2009), but I am a bit concerned that cutting the plastic cover might not be an easy task. Could you provide any kind of guidance or instructions on how to do it properly? Do you have any experiences? This is an important question for me, and I would like to be sure before placing an order. At 55, my knee is really asking for this footrest. :-) Thanks: Levente
