Good morning everyone

There's a fresh pot of Azimuth blend by Waypoint available for you, to help keep you pointed in the right direction.

It's still 85°F at my house, and feels every bit of it. I don't plan to be outdoors today except for a few minutes to water the plants. Scattered light rain showers are possible starting around 1800 hours, which may put a damper on the various Independence Day fireworks displays in the region. Yesterday got to 102°F but today we're supposed to get to "only" 98. Not that we'll be able to tell the difference: the heat index will get to 108.

Stay safe and well (and cool and hydrated) everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thanks Keith for our One Direction startup. Good morning to the rest of you coffee clubbers; or is that coffee club cadets?

Sunny and 17C currently, having cooled substantially overnight but there's both a heat warning and thunderstorm warning out for this afternoon. Should make for an interesting party. The Garagemahall will be cleaned up/out some in case we need to move the festivities inside. It will protect from the rain, but not the heat.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Obo.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee, Keith.

Happy Independence Day to our US crew.

75 and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 89 and becoming partly cloudy, later.
The hourly forecast predicts rain after midnight.

As I predicted , yesterday, we both stayed inside, except for dinner at our local Mexican place.
Brenda keeps wanting to cook spaghetti, but I suggested Mexican .
She'll miss another chance today, too. Can't have her cooking on her birthday! 🎂
She'll just have to pick another restaurant ...

Enjoy your day,
Steve

So THAT'S what all the hullaballoo downtown has been about. I'd been wondering.

Happy Birthday, Brenda!

@steve3b3 Happy Birthday Brenda! :birthday:

Did you ever think about making Mexican spaghetti? Cook the spaghetti, coat with some olive oil and taco seasoning. Add your meat of choice if so inclined.

Or throw all that into a taco shell, add some cheese, toppings and bake for a few minutes.

Voila Spaghetti tacos.

Or just skip the shells and have taco flavoured spaghetti.

Good morning, all, thanks for the hot brew, Keith, and Happy Independence Day to our US brethren!

We're supposed to have a sunny day here, though the sky looks pretty grey and cloudy right now. It's still very warm out there, but cooler than it has been in the last few days, thank goodness. I think this heat dome is finally lifting. The current temperature is 23°C/73°F with a feels-like of 28°C/82°F and we'll see a high of 27°C/31°F with a humidex of 31°C/88°F later on.

@Obo: Hope the celebrations go well, you don't get rained out, and nobody conks out from heat exhaustion!
@steve3b3: Happy Birthday, Brenda!

Everybody have a good one, stay safe, stay cool and go safely.

Patty

Happy Birthday America! Hard to imagine 250 years is still young, in this case.
Barbecue later with friends.
Thought i might be cutting grass this weekend (yeah. I know, don't remind me.) because I actually found the correct belt for the walk-behind mower yesterday.
While putting it on was no problem, the new cable from the bail on the "handlebar" attaching to the front-wheel drive is way too loose and won't engage. I'm certain it's the correct part, which means I've done something wrong somewhere.
It may be that we buy a new push mower instead of a new grill, I never realized the underside of this Toro was so rusty!
Even the blade pulley has been partially eaten away by rust.
I'll confess this mower has never seen even a fraction of the attention or maintenance I pay to my bikes. I don't even know how old it is... 15 years? Or 20?
It's a good news / bad news deal.
The good?
I may not have to cut the grass this weekend after all. (Maybe I could put it off till November, when it gets cooler outside?)
The bad?
I'll have to listen to Roz fuss about how wretched our yard looks.
I'll stay in tonight to make sure Kaiser isn't too freaked out by the fireworks. He's usually pretty good, but last night we walked after dark to seek relief from the heat, and we heard fireworks in the distance, and he was a little bit skittish.
Today would be a good day to be at the lake with an ice chest filled with beers. But it's more likely that I'll just throw some fruit and berries and yogurt and ice in the Vitamix (not to be confused with Vegamite), and make some smoothies.
Hopefully we'll hear from Stu before much longer.
Be cool if ya can.
We'll check in later.

I’m not sure it’s going to be good news from Stu! I tried to PM him, it would not work!

I miss his posts & that guy from over there, too!

Morning Keith & All from sunny, Southern Utah!

Currently @ 10:40AM, it is 83F, heading for 92F. We have a slight breeze, but later the winds will be out of the WSW @ 10 to 17mph. And don't worry about the heat going away, there's another one heading our way, which means you all on the east side of things will get hot, again, later.

@steve3b3: Happy Birthday to Brenda!

Yesterday, I finished up the painting the garage door frame. Then Chris points out the lower part of the back door frame, which needs attention. So I scraped it and put the Kilz on it and today, I'll paint that area. At least, it's not the whole door frame. :cautious:

The rest of the day will just be a quiet day between the two of us. With no family around, and all of our friends here all have family, we'll just enjoy it, ourselves! :usflag2:

Eggs, bacon, toast & OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) on hand for later.

Anyone :bl13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

G'dafternoon from SoMD Broilerland! I've had my requisite 2 cups (American) and feasted on huevos rancheros (not American). Thanks, Keith!

Now sitting inside on my duff contemplating on what to buy next (American). Our wonderful town always puts on a good 4th of July celebration, but this year I'm afraid I'm sitting it out as it's flippin' hot and both of us are trying to get past colds acquired from our last trip the MIL. We'll meet up with some friends later to watch fireworks, outdoors of course. Sold off two mowers, nice to get cash in hand and make a little profit from just a bit of effort. Still got two others, a weedwhacker and chainsaw to finish up and get moved out.

Happy birthday to Brenda!

@Sadlsor in my power eqpt dabblings it's easy to order the right part but get the wrong one. For Toros and most higher-end brands, the cable part number is usually stamped right on the sheath. So you can check and compare that. There's also usually some adjustment needed at the handle. Finally, see if you can check the the idler pulley the cable attaches to. If it doesn't pivot freely, it won't work to engage the belt drive. Usually a return spring on that idler lever as well, could be weak or even broken from rust. Unless the deck is rusted through, they're usually worth keeping. But yeah, 99% of owners just don't think about maintenance beyond filling it with gas and yanking the cord, no judgement. We can have an aside chat if you'd like more help.

Welp, guess I'd better get going. To everyone who's celebrating today, have fun and keep safe. To everyone no matter where, take care y'all!
