Just got a pair of Hyperlite 16 LED flashing brake lights.
I was wondering if anyone had installed these before on an '05 and could tell me for sure the color of the wires on a '05 ST1300 that you need to wire the black and red wires on the Hyperlites into.
The Manual says the brake lights have 3 wires, a green/yellow stripe, solid green and a black/brown stripe.
I was also wondering if you could get to these wires under the seat, or it was easier to remove the lower rear fender extension (that holds the license plate).
I also got the license plate mounting bracket, as I keep the topbox on all the time, and if I mounted them on the side reflectors brackets the topbox seemed to sort of hide the Hyperlites. (especially from a truck behind you)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I'm not very electrically inclined.
Thanks a bunch,
Magna

The best way to do this install is through the tail light. We had a group buy on these last year and there are some very good install tips on the forum. Here's a link to one. There are more -- just do a search on Hyper-Lites. Have fun! It's a great safety farkle!

Magna,

I did the install two weeks ago. Very easy to drop the 4 bolts for the rear fender and drop one of the bulbs to access the wiring,

Green with stripe to positive and solid green to negative. The instructions are very correct when they sat that you need to make sure the red buttons on the connectors are flush, my first test did not work and sure enough even though they looked closed the red buttons where up a little and after I got that fixed they worked great. I also did the License bracket, make sure you clean the contact area with a little rubbing alcohol befor you stick the tape.

Chris,
Thanks a lot for the info, I think I may be able to manage it now.
I think that makes it Red on the Hyperlites to green/yellow stripe on bike,
and black on the Hyperlites to green on the bike.
By the way, whats the black/brown wire for?
Thanks again,
Ed

Ken, Chris,
Just got my Hyperlites installed! Thanks again for the info, it really helped.
The hardest part was running the wires on the ST. I wound up drilling a small hole in the black fender behind each Hyperlite on the license bracket for the wires to the lites, came down through from the top under the seat for the power and ground, no drilling.

The Black/Brown Wire is for the running Lights.
