2000 ST1100
I'm not sure what to say.... I was just scrolling thru FB Marketplace, all the usual stuff. Ive been casually looking at Sportsters for something a little more, really less, than my ST1100 to deal with commute traffic. Easier to maneuver. So FB knew and was feeding the search engine beast to my eyes.

But then, it popped up. A 2007 FJR. Manual, ABS, 57k miles. Deep burgundy. $2900.

I've read many in here like the FJR, and they are (or were recently) still in production. They are practically the Yamaha copy of the 1300. Another I would love to have if it didn't have the two Achilles heels of FI light and LCD display. No bike is perfect, yet....

I haven't really ridden a different bike since 1995. Yet, I just keep going back to the ad. Curious. Would I like it at all? More? But how could I betray my trusty 1100? One I brought back from near totalling after the ONLY time I've ever laid a bike down?

Ugh, I just have such dirty thoughts. Oh, mother Honda forgive me!

Having ridden and owned multiple STs and FJRs, the are pretty equivalent for ride and handling with engine response the biggest difference. ST feels more refined and just steady competence. FJR feels a bit more manic with a bigger oomph when revs get into the sweet spot. ST just steady increase of speed. FJR whirrrrrr...wham! YMMV.

Buy it.

I have an ST that I bought in 04 and have put 130000 on and will continue to ride, found a Concours 14 that I couldn't pass up, love riding them both. The ST for luggage space and refinement, the Concours for it raw power, handling. You will love the FJR for its being what it is.
For camping the ST is really the best, I rode the Concours to the Beartooth pass where it was just awesome. The FJR and the ST offer the same thing

At that price and if it doesn't have any substantial issues I'd already have it. By that I mean tires, fork seals anything that might give anyone pause if you wanted to resell it late spring or early summer. You could try it out and sell it at even a substantial loss for maybe not even the cost of a weekend getaway

Just make sure the spyders are all good for that Generation. Read up on them in the FJR forums. The term "spyders" in reference to a 2007 Yamaha FJR1300 refers to problematic multi-wire electrical ground connectors within the motorcycle's wiring harness, not a separate vehicle model. A common issue known as a "spider bite" occurs when these connectors corrode and cause electrical failures.
