My son invited me to ride with some of his friends to a custom car/truck/bike show in support of technical programs at a secondary school. So now I own a show bike. 😆

We were happy that our crew took home 4 trophies. Better luck next time for the ST.

It’s probably one of the few with polished foot peg mounts and body bolts

Not sure they had a vintage bike category. They focus on customized vehicles to promote that creativity with the students. I tend to keep my vintage vehicles factory stock although the bike has a Puig windshield deflector. 😆
One of the riders with us riding a BMW said, “Nice Gold Wing.” I was shocked.
The Harley choppers were truly customized. Reminded me of Easy Rider.

The ST might have had a chance... if you'd cleaned the bug guts off the windscreen!
We have a juried car show about a mile from my house at a local college (Jaguar club puts it on). Every year we get restored Jags that arrive on flat bed trucks and are driven100' to their spot on the lawn. The owners then walk around the car wiping every last mote of dust off the chrome. The interior of the engine compartments have better paint than the outside of your new car. I am not exaggerating. You can come to this show early in August and watch what I just described. These are usually the old XJ120s, 150s and older.

Clean and shiny is one thing. Obsessively clean is another.

True…that said, I would rather have a nice vehicle I drive/ ride regularly vs one that is Concours condition that sits in the garage that I never use- to me, that is a waste. I see cars (and some bikes) on Bring a Trailer with insanely low miles- no one ever really had fun with these and it becomes more of a collector’s item than a fun vehicle. I recently saw a Porsche GT3 (usually quite expensive) with 20 original miles and 3 years old- I’m sure it brought big money but no one ever enjoyed it.

Reminds me of Ferris Bueller-

Cameron:
The 1961 Ferrari 250GT California. Less than 100 were made. My father spent three years restoring this car. It is his love. It is his passion.

Ferris:
[eyes the car hungrily] It is his fault he didn't lock the garage.

Cameron:
Ferris, what are you talkin' about?

[Ferris leans on the car]

Ferris:
Ooh!

Cameron:
Ferris, my father loves this car more than life itself.

Ferris:
A man with priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine automobile.

[Ferris walks around the car]

Cameron:
No. No. Apparently, you don't understand.

Ferris:
Wow.

Cameron:
Ferris, he never drives it. He just rubs it with a diaper. [runs his finger across the car] Hey. Remember how insane he went when I broke my retainer? Huh? Come on, that was a little piece of plastic. This is a Ferrari.

In other words, drive your (nice) cars and bikes, otherwise, someone else will
