If life gives you lemons...
throw them out and make decent coffee instead... :coffee:

G'Day...

-4°/-2°C today, gray, overcast, but the wind has backed down, much to the crow's disappointment... 🐦‍⬛

We've a holiday, something about three kings, but not the ones with Clooney in it... 🤔

Relaxed and properly caffeinated though... :coffee:
But also kinda pre-annoyed about the workday tomorrow... back to the mine, yuck... :(
Another 4 years till "official" retirement... but who knows what they'll come up with by then... 🤔
The state's retirement fund already sent me a letter: "work just 3 years more to earn 1000,- extra!"... yeah right...

The bread-maker is rumbling, GF is trying out a new recipe... I can already smell it... ☺️
Homemade meatballs (minced meat patties to be more accurate, way more as just patties) for lunch... 🤪

Afternoon is gonna be wasted with dropping by the in-laws (coffee, cake and the usual 'competitive shouting across the table'),
already got my "protest motorcycle sweater" prepared, intend to wear it with pride and not much else to say... 😆

enjoy the Tuesday 😎

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the holiday coffee, Martin. I always hated returning to the office after a long holiday break.

It's 32°F in Rockville and mostly cloudy, so it actually feels like 33. Cloudy with a high of 47 is the expected situation later on.

I've got the paint applied to the front frame of the bench, so today I'll strip off all the masking tape and start in on shaping the trim pieces. The continuous hinge arrived as scheduled yesterday so I can install the top / lid and the lid support / soft closer mechanisms (I hadn't planned on those but Amazon put them in my face and they seemed like an excellent idea) and be completely done with the heavy fabrication steps. I'm still undecided about the plinth, but there's nothing urgent about it. If I eventually decide it needs one, I can add it any time I have enough material to make a 40 x 12 x 1 inch rectangle.

Being Tuesday I have my usual virtual cards night with old friends. We used to play nickel ante poker together in person, before some of the tribe moved too far away. Somehow I inherited the chips and "custody" of the game, and for years after that the game continued at the House of Fun until COVID finally did it in six years ago come March. More people moved away after COVID and those who remain in the area found other things to do on Wednesday nights so the game is now a thing of the past.

Stay safe and well everybody and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Thx Martin, and good luck on your upcoming visit to the inlaws…

-5˚c/23f, calm, a bit of sun.

Yesterday we got more snow.
As I pondered whether to go out and showel or not, my daughter sent me a text that she had just hired a youngster on a 4wheeler to do it for me…
She has had far too many patients getting heart attacks from showelling.
I’m officially old.

Today has been yet another walk to buy groceries, and catfood…

Soon to cook something, then I don’t know.

Have a good one, take it easy!
Stu

Looking out today..

Good morning and thanks for the coffee, Martin.

We've had a dusting of snow, overnight, but right now it's cloudy and 25 in MA. It'll rise to 33 and then drop into the upper 20's again with some snow and freezing rain forecast for overnight.

I managed to get to the gym, yesterday, then headed to the next town over to dispose of some used insulin needless.
Brenda and I visited the Worcester Animal Rescue League, where we donated the package of unused needles, insulin, and unopened food.
Visiting with our son's family was a treat. We brought Christmas presents for everyone, and had dinner, there. The grandkids are doing well. Elouise is doing puzzles, "reading" and being a generally bouncy two year old. Oliver is crawling, standing up by himself, and trying to walk. He's also pulling himself up and climbing on some of the stationary toys. Both kept us and their parents busy, and we needed a nap after leaving!

Today, I'll head out for a haircut, visit the gym, and eventually head out to our First Tuesday gathering. I missed the last one, since Brenda was in the hospital last month.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Morning all, and thanks for the startup Martin.

-12/-16 here and it snowed overnight. The sky is still a dark angry grey but should warm up just above freezing. The wind, however, will make it feel like -10. We have another storm warning in effect for the next day or two, with 10-15cm of snow and 4-6 hours of freezing rain.

@STooRay here I was hoping you'd say she bought you a 4 wheeler with a plow. :)

Hope everyone has a great day,

Obo.

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the coffee Stu, but it’s looking like an iced tea day ahead.

53 degrees at sunrise, and headed toward a partly cloudy 61, this afternoon. I wish that I could put a lock on this forecast.

Yesterday’s 5-hour round trip, to pick up the RC planes, was almost like a mini-vacation, since 90% of the drive was on the Natchez Trace. With the cruise set on 55, Teddy and I enjoyed the scenery and lack of traffic, and stopped at a couple of roadside parks for a brief walk in the woods.

Good morning, all, and much obliged for the coffee, Martin. Ah, yes, Epiphany, or Little Christmas Day, or "la Fête des rois" as we call it here in Québec. The traditional meal here on this day is "tourtière," a rather delicious spiced meat pie that has a pea hidden in it somewhere. Whoever finds the pea is "King for a day."

We have another dump of snow coming here too, should start around 7 p.m. tomorrow. Looks like the freezing rain Obo is talking about will find its way here as well - Friday, methinks.

There seems to be a bit of a January thaw happening. Right now we have overcast skies and -12°C/10°F with a windchill of -17°C/1°F. Temps will drop steadily from here until we reach the freezing mark sometime on Thursday.

I've been having this weird issue with my iPhone - I stopped being able to upload photos from it to my PC. The issue still isn't resolved, but I've found a roundabout way to do it for now, so I can show y'all what I meant to show you at Christmastime. I had painted a watercolour, which I had matted and framed and gave to my great-niece as a keepsake. She's still a little young to appreciate it, but I hope it makes her smile in years to come. This is the painting before it was framed.

Everyone have a good one, stay safe and go safely. And Stu, that pic is painting-worthy!

:thumbsup-2x:

We did the same with the unopened prescription cat food when Mulan passed. If you got stuff from Chewy dot com, they may refund you for unused items if you get in touch. They did with us, and told us to donate the goods to a local shelter (which we did). Win-win and good PR for them. I'll be back with them soon enough.

That reminds me, we're only a few days from running out of wet food for Brie- time to check Chewy for non-prescription food and see what they have to offer. Same with dry kibbles, in a while longer.

When I settled Freya's affairs at the hospital, I asked if they'd take back the unused needles. They said they'd take them and donate them, so I figured I'd eliminate the middle man, and sent it all where I and she had a connection. We were her third owners, and they actually named her as a kitten.

Brenda and I talked about another cat, and she mentioned that she wanted to get a bonded pair, next time. We'll wait until we're back from France in March, before looking for another cat or two.

Morning all! It's a frog strangler out there...well, it was. It seems to have tapered off for a bit. 6C now, 7C later.

Back in the office for the first time in 4+ weeks. I drove in as I had to carry back a monitor and assorted other gear I took home with me when I worked at home before the break for a couple weeks. I actually enjoyed the commute in this morning, even though I took the car; had a beverage, music and my solo company the whole way. I understand the rationale for using transit and support it but there is just something about a solo commute that lends itself to achieving calm before the storm of the office.

Patty, that's a great pic, you have talent. I've dabbled with watercolours and so far created impressive messes. But it sure is fun.

Martin, when I lived in Calgary my last snowblower was a Honda. It replaced a much larger machine and was twice as efficient. I miss it, particularly the odd day when it snows out here.

Steve, I am late to the party but sorry to hear of Freya's passing, it's never easy to lose a loved one.

Stu/John, those are gorgeous pics, thanks for sharing!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Y'all, Thanks Martin for coffee, Keith for the Video link. Feeling a little better this morning, hopefully will stay that way. Good day to stay inside, windy at 35 to 40 mph from 179 ° S maybe higher, 5 C feels like -6 C , and raining. Today's agenda, more Naps. Have a good day G

Morning Martin & All from mildly cloudy skies in Southern Utah!

Currently it is 35F, up from 25F and heading for 46F. No breeze yet, and later the winds will be out of the WSW @ 7 to 9mph. Next storm with snow, is expected on Thursday. We'll see.

I've been going over Google maps for possible rides for WeSTOC. I think I've come up with a few that will be fun rides. I'll continue this week and see about a few more.

I was hoping to get a few hairs cut this morning, but their online appointment is broken and I don't want to go over there and find I have an hour wait. :well1: , so I guess, I'll wait for tomorrow, and try again.

Bagels and OJ for the morning start. Pepsi(s) on tap for later.

Anyone :bk13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:
