Hah! I looked at this pic and realized we have something in common!

On March 1st, I had surgery to repair a partially torn tendon in my left foot. The result when the surgeon finished was more like total foot reconstruction. I have two of those boots, plus crutches, a walker and knee scooter. I pack tomorrow to head for a rally in Redding. Our paths might cross. If I was still in the area, I'd be glad to play tour guide to show you some incredible sights. The offer stands though, whether this summer or the next, or the next.

Sorry for your bummer of a day Wayne. If you had a BMW MOA membership it would have covered your towing cost. WELL WORTH IT! If it was a slow leak did you not have a little air pump in flat repair kit to avoid the tow cost? What happened with your foot boot? You never mentioned that.

I did a long day trip a couple weeks ago. All was well. But all is not well all the time. The pain level today is pretty high. The reason is I'm packing for a rally down in Redding, CA. Lots of movement on the foot. I'd like to get a few more full day trips under my belt to get acclimated again to long distance riding, but it is what it is. Doc says it'll take a year to heal. But that doesn't mean I can't live my life within moderation in that time.

I'll skip the national this year. I've done it a few times, and it was fun. When the COVID lockdowns were in effect, things were great. I went through Yellowstone and there was about a third of the people that are normally there. Traffic was about nil. The last few times I've gone back through there Yellowstone was like a parking lots as people blocked the road to see a deer.

I am headed to WeSTOC in Billings later in August. The location is great and that time of year should open up the Beartooth Pass without having to deal with snow and thunderstorms. If you haven't been there, it is incredible.

The offer to show you around Washington State is still open...and open to anyone who ventures in this part of the Pacific Northwet.

I passed through Bend, OR this morning on my way down to Redding, CA. I took the Cascade Lakes Scenic Bypass off Hwy 97 just out of Redmond. A bit longer than the direct route, but so much nicer. Incredible views of the Sisters, Mt. Hood and later, Mt. Shasta, plus cinder cones all over. If the politics weren't so bad, I'd consider moving to Bend.

Arrived in Redding to temps betwen 101F and 107F. Luckily, most of that was just in the last portion and the rest of the ride was smooth sailing.

Thanks for your PM. You made my day!

Chris

Day 6 - woke up to a cold wet with dew again east of Aberdeen, Wa at 5:30am packed up wet and headed west to the 101 up the coast along the Rainforest catching glimps of the coastline once and awhile, as we turned eastward towards Port Angeles the most beautiful sight appeared Crystal Lake with awesome sweepers bringing us into PA. After gasing up headed over to Friends Dean & Valle for a couple of nites.
