Had to end my ride back from West Texas. More information available here:

:doh1: You need to spread that mileage across the shoulders of the tire too......last longer that way...

Or keep it in the mud....like some folks we know....

How did I know I would get that comment

BTW, I did a "James 180 Drop" out in Big Bend last week, but on a very rough gravel and rock road. Luckily bike, Kathy and I were fine.

My BT54 looked about the same. I put ~2300 miles on it, don't know how many the previous two owners did. Code says it is/was a 2000, so 10 years old. How do ya put a 2000 tire on a 2001 bike, especially one with 54000 miles? I know that tar had been on the bike for over 5 years.

I tried a set of storms...7500 miles was it....went to the PR2's, 15000 miles;)

you guys must weigh next to nothing, I get 5,500 out of a rear Avon....seldom more.

I never wore a Storm that far down but if I had I would have been right with you. I never saw more than 7200 miles to the wear bars but what a lovely handling tire right up to the end. Even yours wore evenly and without much cupping, at least looking at the photo. I pulled off a pair of PR2s at 3000 miles that were already beginning to wear lumpy on both front and rear. I really wanted to get the long wear PR2s are noted for and kept the pressures at 41-42 lbs. With the Storms I could run my favorite 38/40 or even a couple of lbs less and they wore just as evenly.

I get about 8K miles on a rear STorm on my 1100. I do a fair bit of 2 up riding and I'm a bit on the "thick" side....

8,000 miles on an ST1100 (30 or so pounds heavier than an ST1300).
I'm 6'-5" and 220 lbs.

I think your riding style matters much more than weight of the rider...

I've been averaging around 13,000 on the rear with the Avons .

...unless of course bayoubear weighs -58 lbs. :p:
