A while back i asked a lot of people for a lot of advice on a new helmet. I read tons of reviews here and on lots of places. I asked on ST Facebook page and had tons of help there too! This is the helmet i chose and figured i would share my initial reviw so everone could see it here. I had an accident at work so my miles on the bike for the last 3 weeks have been basically nothing, BUT, Last weekend I did finally go for a spin with the new lid. I am impressed! I have been wearing a hjc modular, entry level, so it is a lot different on fit to start with, BUT....
The Kabuto fit is exactly as measured. So, no need in going bigger or smaller, for me the large was just right.
Features: Revzilla vid had a few small complaints, so I took them to heart and tested them b4 trying helmet out on the road.
Complaint 1 was the seal around the shield, it is not a huge seal, but it ain't tiny like the hjc one either. I put lid on and leaned over the sink, with direct spray from sink wand I had 2-3 drops get in, this was from under the lower part of shield, so, you would have to ride with head back and rain going UNDER bottom for this to be issue while riding, so, not likely to be an issue. I ride in the rain, I ain't worrying about it after that test!
Complaint 2, sun shield length. To me, no issue, lid fits fine and with slight tilt down on front of lid it is plenty low enough. No complaints from me on this! It is dark enough and closes/opens kind of rigid, not wimpy like my Gmax 3/4 is.
As for noise, with same set up I always wear, lg Bluetooth earbuds under lid it is NOT loud! It is not annoying at all, it is a decent level that I believe would be considered quiet. Now, flip visor up and it gets even quieter! I had sunshine down and visor up, almost no cold air on face and it was quiet!
This is my first time using or trying a pin lock visor, man, I have been missing out! Worked wonderful! It was perfect condition for it to fog, it did before I put pin lock on, I then put it on and it didn't fog at all:)
Unfortunately I didn't get many miles with it yet, but, this is a fine lid that I would recommend anyone looking into them on next go around! Fit, features and visible quality are there! Price for this lid in hi viz was $249 I think, worth every penny!
Due to this stupid accident and another set back it will be a few weeks before I can put any more miles in this lid, but, I CAN'T WAIT!

This one isn't modular from what I can see so it should be quieter than a modular. But I think they do make a modular.

Yes they do make one, from what I've seen it's an extremely nice, light and quiet modular! One of the highest rated of all. But, I didn't want modular or the higher price tag. But yes, it's a very nice modular one also.

I tried and tried and tried to get him to buy the modular.... but then I have the Shoei RF-1200 Beacon so he shut me up quick. :p

I do. Took one for a test ride. Doesn't fit my Shoei head. Could have better venting. Quality seemed OK.

I have almost 3K on my Ibuki. So far, really like it. It replaced a Nolan Trilogy...much better than the Nolan in all aspects.
I really like the sun shield control mechanism location (no problem clamping the Sena 20S). Many Modulars have this control on the lower left side.
I don't like the chin shields on the Modulars (I recently purchased a GMax too). I removed the chin shields on both helmets. Both helmets have Senas installed with flexible mic boom.
The Shield hardly fogs with the chin shield off, so I never installed the Pin Loc (included with the Ibuki).
It ventilates much better than the Nolan and better than the GMax. However, the top vent where most of the intake is, increases wind noise. I usually don't wear ear plugs on the Wing unless I'm riding 100's of miles. The vent open creates enough noise that I don't use it much. I think if you like riding with lots of wind on your helmet, it would be a very noticeable noise difference.
Great plush padding and fit for me. I think I payed $450 about $125 less than Neotec I was considering.
Good Luck.

Nolan Trilogy is NOLANS 1 SIZE FITS ALL. Noisy but works for multi-purpose, Try their Touring helmet and you will see a huge difference.

Nolan didn't offer anything currently, that fit my needs.
Very pleased with my Kubuto.
Thanks,

Well after over 1000 miles I'm very pleased with this lid. It's comfy and dry! The revzilla review questioned the seal around the visor, I haven't had it leak yet.
The helmet is not loud, but not silent either. Nope doesn't make sense, but it's the quietest one I've ever had. Much better than my HJC modular! After a long fast ride, there is no fatigue from noise or it feeling heavy.
This for the money will be hard to beat! And the hi viz, IS HI VIZ!
