Hang in there Keith... hopefully this get resolved sooner than later. The wait for medical care is ridiculous sometimes...
I had a cleaning about 2 weeks before. I have never taken antibiotics before cleaning. But won’t do it again without antibiotics. Not sure if that caused it or not. They just don’t know.Just curious - any recent dental work?
My dentist always gives me a healthy dose of antibiotics beforehand - even before a cleaning.
I certainly hope I don’t have to go through all of that. Thanks for letting me know.Kieth hope you get well soon. A friend of mines wife had knee replacements many years ago and she kept getting infections. they ended up remove the replacement like you and put in a block of antibiotics. this lasted a year I think. they called it good and put a new knee in. She got another infection. What they eventually found was that she had sepsis, and is know on a life time of antibiotics. She no longer has issues, the knees are fine, but it took years for the doctors to fine out she has sepsis. She was even at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.
Hope things improve, get well soon.
Keith - My dentist has provided antibiotics for me ever since I've had joint replacements.I had a cleaning about 2 weeks before. I have never taken antibiotics before cleaning. But won’t do it again without antibiotics. Not sure if that caused it or not. They just don’t know.
Mine too. Infections can be seeded from a remote wound. Artificial surfaces are magnets for bacteria. So besides dental work, carefully tend to all cuts and scrapes.Just curious - any recent dental work?

I will keep you in my prayers my friend!Today is the day! At the hospital now. Surgery is scheduled for noon today. Taking the old knee replacement out and putting in a spacer with antibiotics in it. IV antibiotics for the next 6 weeks or more to clear up the infection. Then a brand new knee replacement. Wish me luck!
