When pushing the bike in the garage the other day, I notices there there's a slight play between the ST1300 handle bars and the fork top bridge (I think it's called). If I push the handle bars up and down, they rock slightly relative to the bridge. I've never noticed this before. The bike has not been in a wreck, not even a tip over in a long time. Should I just torque the 6 mm bolts or is there something else that needs attention? Is this sorta, kinda normal?

The rubber mounting along with the bar end weights is to help reduce vibration in the handlebars.

Yep. Small rubber bumpers between the handle bars and the triple tree is where the play comes from. That's supposed to be there for the reasons mentioned above. Little concerning when first noticed. ;)

Don't ask her!! :22yikes:

LOL! Sage advice.

Wow, another gotcha question.

Ya know there should be an app for that. Input the date and anytime you press the button (once a day upon waking) it tells you how long since… AND a push notification so you don't have to fumble when you get a pop quiz.

Though I suppose there could be those times when it triggers a "Don't remind me!" reaction.

We (igofar and I) have run inti cases where the rubber mounts have broken down and the bars need to be replaced. The bars are made for steering, not yanking on. Replacing them is expensive.
