Well I mounted a set back in April and have about 4,000 miles on them so far. Here is were I'm in a bit of a dilemma. WeSTOC is coming up and I figure it going to put another 3,000 miles on the tires. So now I'm wondering if they will make it or I need to bite the bullet and put on a new set before I leave.

How many miles have you gotten on your Roadsmarts so far?

I've got the RoadSmarts also but not the mileage you have. If you're concerned about them making the 3K miles, how do the tires look now? Can they pass the penny test? If so then in my experience they should be good for another 3-4k miles.

I measured 6.5mm tread depth on mine to the wear bar when I first put it on. Measure the tread depth at the most worn part and see where you are at. They will likely go away a bit faster towards the end. I'd guess if you have 3.25mm left you would just make it OK. 'Course it's just a guess.

Good question Byron, "inquiring minds need to know"
I'm mounting up a brand new set tomorrow morning... WeSToc will prolly be the first real ride on the road smart's.... Taking off a set of BS 021s with 6k rear & 2k front. The BS's would prolly be ok, but I underestimated my remaining tire life for last years WeStoc. The tires made the trip, but they were always on my mind & influenced my ride/route choices.

I have a set on and have just past the 2000 mile mark. Rode the straight highways all the way up here to Billings and the rear is squared off, but appears to have quite a bit of thread. I sure am counting on at least 8000 miles out of this dual compound, if not I will be real disappointed.

Well so you know of where I'm at I just went down and took a couple of pictures. You can see more in my gallery. The penny is at the bottom of the tread and not on a wear bar.

I've got 4,100 on my oem 020's and they look pretty close to yours.

I haven't noticed if we have a Honda dealer in Taos providing tire services...

Well, I'm expecting my tires to last through WeSTOC and change them out once I get back.:

But I just ordered another front PR2 (still got the new one from the accident sitting in my garage) and two rears. I figure, if I don't get them now, by the time I need them, I'm sure prices are going to go thru the roof! :(

Byron,

I have almost 5000 miles on my Roadsmart's. I still have significant tread to go (5mm.). I have been very pleased with the lack of tread wear. My last set of BT021's made it to 5300 miles.

Joe and others,

I just contact:

Taos Cycle Works, Ltd.
216 Paseo del Canon Taos NM 87571
Phone: (505) 758-3088 Fax: (505) 758-9862
Toll Free Phone: (800) 987-7217

They said they don't normally stock tires for the ST's & Goldwings they would have to be special ordered. I asked if it would be possible to have a set of tires drop shipped to them and then they mount them. They said that would work and it would be 1 hour per wheel @ $69.00 per hour to get it done.

I just had a set of Roadsmarts arrive yesterday and I currently have 4,800 miles on my BT021's. Since I am signed up for Ravens Total Control class in Taos and I expect to put another 4,500 miles on the bike for Westoc, I think I am going to change to the Roadsmarts before I leave. That should allow me to do a really good evaluation of the tires in about 2 weeks.

Well, I hate the idea of restricting my riding and with 2 weeks to go before I leave I decided to order some new tires. I couldn't make up my mind so I actually ordered 2 sets: Road Attack and Pilot Road 2. Providing they arrive before I leave I won't have to worry about running out of tire. :D

Byron, your current tire sure has a nice round even wear thing going on! My last 7 sets have had that squared off 3 angle thing before the 5K mark. Must be all these loooong straight AZ roads.

Southwest Moto Tires delivered Tucson to Yuma....LESS than one day! ordered Tuesday after lunch. Delivery Tuck was at my house Wednesday before lunch, had to wait till Thursday to get em, cause I was not there to sign, but still. Oh, and I was a dork & did a typo in the delivery address.:

I just got an update on my order. Seems both front tires are on backorder. I'm waiting to hear if I can still get them before the 20th. :(
