MIleage Gauge Not Working

RHM

I changed my gauge from miles to km then back. Now it won't display my average mpg when I am riding. I've looked in the book and there does not seem to be any type of "toggle" to turn this feature on or off. Perhaps I have overlooked it.

I am taking the bike into the shop this Thursday for the recalls and if I haven't overlooked something I want to bring this to their attention.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I do not have the problem you have, but something on a similar line is that the computer works except for the 'Average Fuel Consumption'

Guess it looks like Honda have some work to do on the mileage computer systems as I have heard of a number of problems arising from this section of the machine.

Have you tried to do a reset while the gauge is set for average? (Press FCD/H button until Average fuel consumption is showing, then hold the FCD/H button in to reset)

I have tried the reset in both Km's and miles and it still does not give what I would call, an average mph.

I have reset whilst the tripometers have read zero, and done this in both K's and M's, and after about 300 miles, the average consumtion reads 9 miles per gallon at the end of the trip.

Whatever I do, be it in miles or K's, it seems to stop working at 9 mpg, I would have thought it would give me a reasonable readout after 300 miles.

If anyone has any further ideas I am quite happy to try them.

My suggestion would be to disconnect the battery and let it reset completely for a few seconds! You probably don't need to let it sit disconnected for long, but better to be too long, than not long enough... It really sounds like a 'logic hangup'... I will experiment with my bike if the logic hangup reset doesn't fix it... Let me know! Oh, once you disconnect the negative side, turn the key on.... Then turn the key back off before reconnecting the negative side...:04biker:
 
Got it fixed, I was going through the mpg/km too fast to pickup the mpg part. Thank you for all your replies. I am taking the bike in for 2 recalls Thursday. I hope to get it ready for a ride down the west coast of FL to either Naples or Key West, I haven't decided where I am going to stop.

Sounds like a good one! I will try disconnecting the battery but it will take me a couple of days to get round to it as I am away for a few days.

One question I have that may sound silly, and that is 'Why turn the ignition on and then off before reconnecting the battery'
