I removed my right side mirror cover on my 2007 ST 1300 with the help of IgoFar speaking to me over the telephone.
Then that same day I accidentally bumped my fat rump against the left mirror while I was walking past the bike (from the rear to the front) and I knocked that thing completely off the bike and sent it clattering across the garage floor!
It turns out that mirror did not have a tether holding it to the bike, and it pulled out the electrical wires.
TODAY's project: I finally reconnected it. Here's a photo showing the homemade tether that I fabricated to keep it from falling off the motorcycle completely again (and ending up on the road if I were moving). .
It works. Both as a running light and as a turn signal.

PS: Yes, it's a black mirror cover on silver ST, but I am about to purchase a silver cover from a seller here.
On my ST's mirrors, all three of the clip-in attachment points had the circular tension rings / clamps on them. Igofar told me that this is not correct -- only two out of the three should have the spring loaded circular ring clamp.
But now, a couple months later, I don't recall which of the three should not have that clamp ring on it. So I took a guess and left it off the bottom one.
Can anybody confirm if this was right ?
