Yeah, there a few tasks like installing the trimming on the terrace roofing providing seal/rain-proofing to the house wall,
which has been "forgotten" by the crew installing the retractable canopy... :cautious:
Whilst ze GF appreciates me doing things for her, she prefers the connection and intimacy of solving something together...

So I guess I'll go back to reading (The Expanse)... maybe some TV... decompress...

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Nespresso, Martin. You're now experiencing a foretaste of what retirement feels like: do what you want, when you want, for as long as you want. Kinda takes the sting out of Mondays, doesn't it?

It's 69°F and partly cloudy in Rockville at the moment. We had some lightning and thunder yesterday evening, but no rain. Today, we'll have partly sunny skies, a high around 90, and no rain.

It's Old Guy Goof Day again, as usual for Mon\days from May through September. Apart from that there are some errands to run but nothing worth calling out specifically.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Interesting remark though... 🤔

When we still hat that group of ST riders over here, the retirees always demanded that we do some group rides during the monthly dinner meetings...

But when you actually planned and appointed a ride to a specific weekend like two months(!) in the future, it were just those pensioners who always claimed it conflicts with their 'busy schedules', whilst the ones still with a job had no problems to carve out the time required... :confused:
 
Morning all, and thanks Martin for the coffee. Tastes better without the stress.

12C and clear for the ride into work. The moon looked small up in the sky. 22 and sun later on they are saying.

Survived the whirlwind trip to deliver the birth certificate. We were gone about 26 hours. :)

It's 60, going to 77, with a mix of sun and clouds

Yesterday , I didn't do any of my planned activities.
Instead, I got out with the string trimmer and cleaned up around the edges of the lawn. That led to my trimming back the viney growth that's strangling the trees along my fence. Brenda was having a hard time driving the garden tractor underneath it all.

Today, I'll go to the track to flag at today's motorcycle track day. I don't need to be there until 9:30, so laguna didn't need to wake me at 5:45.

We'll dine out, locally, and celebrate my birthday quietly.

This forum is more reliable than farcebook for announcing 🎂 birthdays... something is amiss.
I dunno... but Happy Birthday if it is, or if it isn't, Steve. You can always act like it's a birthday, there's no law against that. 😄
If you followed my floundering around yesterday, you'll know the ST still doesn't flash with the button on the left grip*.
But at least it means I didn't have to cut the back yard.
Short evenings, daylight leaves quicker, so I may not have time till the weekend, to truly dive back into it.
But everything is back together, so there are no parts or bits or pieces to get stay or get lost in the meantime.
Best get on to work, as I'm still getting paid.
Next RiderCoach prep class begins October 31, so I can get recertified to train new riders again.
That's it for now.

Sorry, but with all respect, no can do.
Last time I went that route, I didn't stop riding it until I needed new batteries for my car AND for the ST! 🤣
Procrastination can be fun, but sooner or later, there always seems to be a price(-es) to be paid.
So I can ride and wave my arm (really it's static when deployed) for the time being.
Reminds me of a story: a dad is buying a new car for his son, who just got his license.
Salesman: "Sir, would you like to include the optional turn signals on the new car?"
Dad: "Nah, he won't need them. He will only be driving around town."
 
Good morning, all, and thanks for the start-up, Martin. Enjoy the quiet bliss of not having to go into that horrid place of toil.

Today is the first day of Meteorological Autumn and it certainly feels like summer is coming to its inevitable end, with a temperature this morning of a slightly nippy 15°C/59°F. However, it's a gorgeous, sunny day and we'll see a very pleasant high of 23°C/73°F with a soupçon of humidity that will make it feel like 25°C/77°F. There may be a 10 am coffee break on the patio by the pond in the works.

G'mornin' from SoMD! Thanks for the java, Martin! I am thankful I can work from home on Mondays and this makes it even better. At the same time I hope you become willfully employed soon and hope you can enjoy the time off and make the best of it for you und ze GF.

Yesterday's party was fine. The wife's barn friends are a nice enough bunch, but not really my cup of pinky tea. They did have a pool which felt nice, and the rum cake turned out good. Smaller gathering than usual, I owe it to then having to reschedule it once due to bad weather.

Prepping for this weekend's wedding, getting laundry done and the car topped up. Dreading the drive but will be a nice getaway, see some family, and meet new ones. Just gotta get through this week.... Take care y'all!
 
Morning all! Sunny and clear blue skies here, 12C now, 22C later for the ride home.

Got a mess o' priming done on the house this weekend. Also appears I got a mess o' priming on my hands and arms as well. Discovered that I hadn't caught it all either at the pool this morning. On the upside, it may have made me a titch more aerodynamic (hydrodynamic?).

Happy Birthday Steve! Sometimes the quiet celebrations are the best, hope you have a great day!

That probably has to do with the fact that, although retirees don't have so many external demands on their time, that gives them the latitude to fill their schedules however they choose, as far in advance as they choose. Not all retirees feel the need to sit on the front porch rocking chair, idling the days away doing nothing.

In my case, between goof, ukes, medical appointments (of which there seem to be more of them every year, as the number of practitioners involved in keeping me in operating condition increases), and whatnot, I'm finding it difficult to find time for things like weekday overnight camping trips. Much as I'd like to do that, it just doesn't align well with other things- especially with Mrs. Fun away for extended periods, leaving me to keep the cat fed and entertained.
