Molybdenum paste application on final driven flange

Honda manual calls for 3 grams to each of the areas mentioned. I've always just put on a medium coat on each surface. As stated, too much just flings off and makes a mess, kinda like chain lube.
Chunk.

Just wondering how much moly to put on. I did my rear tire and put moly in the rear spline. I would say that I painted it on so that it covered everything in an even coat. How much do folks put on?

I always put on way more than necessary, because who knows exactly how much 3 grams is ? And I don't care if this bothers my friend Bush. It only makes a little mess for a few thousand miles. My splines look new after 86K miles.

Thanks Guys. Hard to measure 3 grams of that stuff. I'm a little OCD with greasing things. I think I'll go for a long ride and then take it off and check. That stuff is not cheap, ouch...

i do. Took my old spatula from a chemistry set when I was a kid, weighed it on our kitchen scale and hit tare. Then, used it to scoop out a half inch dollop. Played around until I got 3 grams. Not hard at all.
