Good morning everyone

I violated my principles yesterday and had coffee after 10 a.m., so I'm paying the price today with active mind hamsters at 0230. An hour later I've surrendered, capitulated, thrown in the towel, and given up fighting them. The coffee's ready for you- Mayorga Colombian dark roast once again.

It's a chilly-but-seasonal 30°F in Rockville. Scattered showers of the light rain and snow varieties are possible starting around noon, with a high of just 34. In other words, a dreary early March day after a spectacular end to February.

I'll try to hit the gym early today (something I've added to the routine, as of last week; we'll see how long it lasts) and then start getting my gear reviewed, organized, and packed for the upcoming departure this Friday. I'm busy pretty much all day Wednesday (assuming the weather holds up for golf, a 50/50 proposition at the moment) and Thursday so today and tomorrow are really my prep window.

I'll also try to hit Michael's to see about mounting, matting, and glass for the photo of my brother and Ledward Ka'apana; I'll make the frame myself unless it's cheaper to buy one. (Last time we went through this it was cheaper to buy a frame along with the matting and mounting and glass because they do a package deal; buying just some of the items "a la carte" therefore costs more.)

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, for tomorrow may be too late.

Coffee beans are the seeds of a fruit.
So we’re basically having a fruit smoothie... :coffee:

G'Day...

3°/11°C, thick overcast, possible chances for some rain (cause I'd the car washed on Friday...), should clear up in the afternoon... we'll have to wait and see... ⛅

home and office caffeinated... :coffee:

So, we had to learn that also humor is frowned upon... ah-ja... 🤔
Will that stop us here in the coffee lounge? Doubtful... 😁

Yesterday's 'hike' was... uhm... invigorating... ;)
To increase the physical challenge we kept off the smooth, beaten paths (primarily to avoid the pushbike plague 🙄) and moved through the undergrowth.
Narrow winding trails, some possibly just boar migration routes 🐗, climbing over and under fallen trees, admiring the occasional beaver gnaw marks here and there 🦫
Scenery still a tad monochrome, beige, brown and gray tones predominant, all dipped in hazy sunlight...
Birds are out, screaming their tiny heads off, the tapping of woodpeckers echoing through the forest... snow-dots raising their blossoms, the scent of wild garlic floating by...
One and a half hours through dense "battle forest terrain", my left knee not pinching more then usual, ze GF also holding up nicely and fairly tired afterwards...
Lets see if we'll make a weekly regime out of that... 🥾
That recreational area is just a 15 minute drive from her place...

Some motorcycles were out... in the city, low altitude, them noisy squid packs won't dare to go up in the mountains yet...
Especially when wearing their jeans-sneakers-hoodie uniform... so apparently just out coffee racing... ;)
Mulling over breaking the ST out, but morning temps around 3°~4°C aren't very inviting for the commute...
Gonna revisit that once we've night temperatures at steady 5°~10°C... 🤔

Office, dull... lets see what the day brings...

Enjoy the start into the week, and don't run out of breath while putting your socks on!

Thx Keith, King of the Mindhamsters!
And thx Martin for your poetic description of your hike, do I need a prescription for those drugs?

Started the day early with a visit to the dentist, annual check-up. $125, not too bad…

A lot of small stuff today, but I’m not sweating it.

Yesterday I sorted out the electric gremlins in my little boat, so now I’m happy as a fart in an elevator.

7˚c/45f, rain, 25 mph wind from south.

Have a good one, smile!

Good morning and thanks for the coffee start , Keith.

Yesterday was a travel day, and everything went well.
...until we got into Geneva.
The bus that was to take us to Brides Les Baines was too small to haul all of our gear. we stood around for about 3 hours before a solution was found and we finally made it here, but late.

We decided to sleep in this morning , and boy did we ever! My watch showed 9:30 when I woke , but it was really 1030. We missed the free breakfast , but we'll catch lunch , somewhere. Room coffee is fine , for now.

Today , we'll explore , buy a ski ticket and rent skis somewhere .

By the way , it's sunny and 52, but it will drop to 29, later.

Enjoy your day,
Steve

... do I need a prescription for those drugs?
I might suggest some Valium... strongly... 🤔

Otherwise you might soon go ballistic at one of those entitled push-bikers, aiming at you at full speed, while hammering their annoying bell DING-DING-DING-DING...!!!
totally expecting that you instantly dive into the bushes with a pike roll, over the misconception that they own every single hiking trail avail on this planet now... 😒

But they get really offended if you just raise/aim an elbow without even giving them a glance... :devilish:

Morning all and thanks Keith for the stimulant fluid.

If you finish your coffee by 9:59 are you OK thru the night? Just wondering how you know 10am is the magical cutoff.

Here, it's cold this morning. -20/-28 but clear. The Sun will come up later and warm us to -8/-14.

Lots to do at work today as it seems I'm going to be supervised on my trip to see Thing2 at Uni the next 2 days. Mrs. Obo's going to Costco with Thing2's list, and we'll see about getting all that delivered tomorrow. I was able to use my hotel points to score a free room, so that will lessen the overall expense of the trip. It's going to be a long 2 days in the cage, especially since they are calling for 5-10cm of snow tomorrow.
Always makes the driving fun.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Obo.

@steve3b3 Enjoy your skiing. We are driving down to Pila, Aosta, Italy in just over a week for a weeks skiing (so just over the mountains from you). Whilst I love France, I'm not a great fan of skiing there. Too expensive and generally crowded slopes. We were at Val Thorens last February with our daughter and her friends. All week was like skiing on a London motorway at rush hour! Pila gets busy at the weekend (if the weather is nice) when Italians drive up from Turin, but the rest of the week the slopes are generally quiet and the on slope the food is truly Italian and quite reasonably priced!

I really wasn't done with my weekend yet. And next weekend they're gonna steal yet another hour... the jerks.
At least I'll have a non-electrified ride to work, as temps slide into the 70s all week. Nice!
⚫️ Black Rifle works for me this morning, and it could work for you if you drop by. (I don't have the time to deliver it to ya, sadly.)
Need to buy oil and filter for the BMW bike today, and change it in the dark this week.
Soon, I'll put the ST back into rotation to spread the miles out.
Sorry about the insomnia Keith, I am not a sufferer with that phenomena, so I have no good advice for ya.
But at least I know who I can call, if I feel the need to chat at 2am.
Wishing y'all all the best.

Good morning all!
Thanks for the start, Keith!
It’s a beautiful morning here on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, presently 65/86F or 19/28C with showers in the works for this afternoon. I’m off to our Monday morning coffee meeting to try & discuss all the current issues. (etc)

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee fix, Keith!

Looks like we have a lovely, sunny day in store, but it's cold: -18°C/0°F now (but no windchill this morning) and a high of -9°C/16°F with a feels-like of -14°C/7°F. I'll be busy doing this, that and the other, but I may well bundle up and get out for a walk at some point.

@steve3b3: Glad you finally made it to where you needed to be!

Right, must go water the orchid. (No, Obo, that is not a euphemism for anything, I really do have to water the orchid!) Everybody have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

That number is 1-900-IM-AWAKE...

FYI, that number with the 900 area code doesn't exist.

Also FYI the number IM AWAKE is 462-9253 based on the standard telephony alpha numeric dial pad.

Also also that number does exist with various other area codes, but most are residental customers who might not appreciate the wake up call.

Also also also you'd be incurring long distance, unless you're local or have some sort of special long distance plan.

Also also also also FYI "watering an orchid" means thoroughly hydrating its roots—usually by soaking them for 10-15 minutes or running water through the pot—only when the roots turn silvery-gray and the medium is dry, typically every 7-10 days. Crucial tips include avoiding overwatering to prevent root rot, ensuring proper drainage, and using room-temperature water.

Also also also also also, AKA is also known as also known as.

Not to worry, @Obo ... Keith made the mistake of giving me his number a long time ago.
Way before he learned how long I can talk about nothing.

I'd forgotten about that. Number's still good, though the phone doesn't ring if the caller's number isn't in my Contacts list.

Good Morning, thanks Keith for coffee , it's starting to wake me up. Brain and body feeling the effects of 6 hours of riding yesterday. My apologies didn't stop to take pictures. Went to Golden Ears park then down though Abbotsford to Vye Ave, headed east to Cultus lake , then home by way of 0 Ave. Today's agenda, delivere rent check, that's it. Might spend some time cleaning the ST. Anyway, Cheers Y'all, have a good day G

G'mornin' from SoMD! Kicked the Prince out at 0615 and rolled back over. Alarms were hencely silenced and finally removed myself from the bed at 0745 at Princess #2's insistence. Thanks for the Colombian variety, Keith...is it made from real Colombians?

Yet again gloomy and 36F/2C, expecting some sort of precip later today and into the night. nobody can figure out what it'll be...rain, snow, frogs, bowling balls. Your guess is as good at theirs. I'll just stay inside and dutifully WFH while it all sorts itself out somewhere's out theres.

I violated my principles yesterday and had coffee after 10 a.m., so I'm paying the price today with active mind hamsters at 0230
10am? How many scoops are you putting in that maker? Maybe cut your coffee intake down to two slices a day.

Someone had way too much time on hand to find all this out. And I haven't paid for a long distance call in well over a decade.

I'd forgotten about that. Number's still good, though the phone doesn't ring if the caller's number isn't in my Contacts list.
Blocked by the uke-meister!

Anyhoo, not much going today besides work. Maybe try for a dog walk before it gets wet outside. Take care y'all!

Morning all! Sunny and blue sky here, currently 5C with a predicted high of 12C.

Rode into work this morning, it was a chilly 1C. Hit a fog bank part way and the windshield fogged right up. Usually I ride with it in the fully down position but this morning I decided, given the temps, to ride with it raised. Which meant zero visibility post fog bank necessitating riding slightly standing up until I hit the next light and was able to lower it. Karma I guess. Should have just left it down. It's not like I don't have sufficient subcutaneous insulation to ward off the cold.....

Safe travels Obo and enjoyez les pistes de ski Steve! (I'll let everyone fill in their own piste off joke).

Hope everyone has a great day!
