Not common, but it does happen.WOW! Never seen or heard of that before. Is this a common problem with the 1300? Says something for good old analog gauges!
My '05 is completely stock. Plenty of sunshine here in Georgia. I park outside often in the sun. I guess everything was aligned this time. What windshield do you have on that bike?
The PC800's used to burn cigarette type holes in the dash when aftermarket shields were used, due to the angle on the shield etc.
Never seen an ST1300 wash out like that. Was anything else modified? like LED lights, color, etc.
Just curious.
I left on of my ST's parked in directly sunlight for 10 -16 hours a day, 6 day a week, for many years, and never had an issue light that?
Nice pictorial sir. Thank you. Its much easier finding what's inside before taking it apart. What you'll need to do is to replace the LCD panel. It is possible to do, you just need to pick up a used speedometer.
Here is a step by step how to do that:

Okay all, there's a video on YouTube addressing this issue. The gentleman replaces the polarized screen and reinstalls the lcd gauge. There's also a link of where to get the plastic screen/film.
