OK I am trying to change the neutral safety switch, Honda St1300 2010 model, it has been going bad for a while.

Pealed back the plastic and found the switch, but have run into a issue, how do I get it out?

Do I need to take out the big nut? Bit lost please help

Are you sure you're looking at the neutral switch? Looks like a knock sensor to me.

Look at this diagram. I have them circled.

The SM for my 03 ST shows its location on page 22-27 in the LIGHTS/METERS/SWITCHES chapter. If you don't have a Service Manual for your ST yet, you need to get one for any maintenance beyond oil and filter changes (air and oil filters) and spark plug R&R. I feel more comfortable just doing a R&R of either wheel for tire replacement. Sure, if you're mechanically inclined and have some practical experience servicing and repairing vehicles, etc. It may not be a big challenge to get the job done, but the SM will give you the proper sequence to follow and required torques to get the job done right (most of the time, anyway).

It's just aft of the oil sight glass, but I think you found it.

is the switch the same part between the 02 and 03 ST1300s? Mine is an 02 and the only part i can find is listed as for the 03
That was from 2016, they haven't been around since 2018. Cross reference the part number for year compatibility. I am unaware of a 2002 ST1300, 2003 yes. Some web sellers have "this part also fits".

I can't find a single seller online that shows anything older than an 03 for the ST1300 and none of them indicate if it also fits an 02. Almost as if the 02 doesn't have this part, which is ridiculous.

What makes you think its an 02 vs an 03? I would assume it's an 03 and buy parts accordingly. Do other parts show up as fitting the 02?

My bike is an 02, there's no question about that. Parts listings I'm seeing online don't even show anything for Honda for the year 2002 except for ST1100 model bikes. I've never had to buy a part for this bike until now, so this is the first time I've searched for parts. The 03 version of my bike has the motorized adjustment for the windscreen. Mine lacks that, so it's an 02.

I always like learning something new about these bikes. Turn your handle bars hard to the right, on the steering tube is a placard, mine looks like this, what does yours look like?

Same all years.
Switch P/N 35600-MK4-860
O-Ring P/N 90443-MJ6-000
Nut, 4mm, P/N 94050-04000

I'll be damned. It IS an 03, even tho the title says it's an 02. I wonder if i can upgrade to the motorized wind screen aftermarket.
I’m sure you can upgrade, find the slide rails off a used bike along the raise and lower switch and add power and a fuse.
This is the one feature I would never be without if I purchased a newer bike in the future.
