New guy with ST1100 odometer question

87LtdT

This is in reference to an '01 ST1100 with analog odometer (not digitial in the event digital even exists :) )

Does the last digit on your odometer represent tenths of a mile, or a whole mile??

E.g. would "022912" represent 22,912 miles or 2,291.2??

If only 2291 miles on the '01 bike would there be any concerns with seal leakage, etc due to sitting unused for long periods of time??

Thanks, Bob

Whole miles/kilometers, makes it a bit of a bugger when trying to accurately calculate fuel consumption

If that's what the odo reads then it is 22K miles. An 01 with 22K miles?!? It's not broke in yet! That would be about 2K miles per year, if ridden yearly.

I would check for coolant leaks (common problem) from the valley under the carbs. Check the coolant overflow tank line (another common problem) for damage/dry rot.

I would flush the brake/clutch lines and coolant with new fluid, change the oil, check the tires and brakes and RIDE it! Also a dose of Seafoam in the fuel.

If it's an ABS model, make sure you follow the procedure for flush/fill the brake system closely.

Enjoy the ride!
