With the buzz over the upcoming ADV styled Kawasaki 300 I'd say that Honda should do the something along those lines instead of a baby cruiser. The new Rally is little more than a warmed over CRF250. On the other hand, the Rebel has launched thousands upon thousands of new riders and I expect the new one will do the same.
More Harley-esq than Harley but overall I like it. The all-black is nice but I'd like to see more color on the 300 than just the tank. And that's a lot of rubber on the front. Seems to be a theme. Or maybe it's because not as much is needed on the back?
The 500 could be a nice second bike an errand-runner or fun on short putts. I'd like it much better if it were belt driving instead of a chain drive. My perfect second bike (if I had the room) would be a 2017 version of the 650 Nighthawk. 6-speed shaft drive with GPI and hydraulic valves. That was one sweet machine.
There are one or two other smallish (750cc) shafties but none with Honda reliability AFAIK. I just don't want to mess with chain mess. My GL1000 cured me of that.
